Default All Terrain Tires and a Full Size Truck

The F150 I purchased is my first pick up. Prior to that, I had an '89 Jeep and a '04 Xterra.

I have went through about 5 or 6 pairs of BFG AT/KOs on those two vehicles since 1998.

I have always been very impressed with the KOs and a vocal advocate of the tire. However, I never owned a full size truck.

I was about to buy a set of BFGs for the truck until I found this site. I have read multiple threads on various tires and am now thoroughly confused as to what tire to buy for the first time in 16 years.

The truck will mostly be used on pavement, but I live out in Lancaster county, PA. When it snows, we get a lot of drifting from the wind and corn fields. I do hunt and have a cabin up north too. We also go down to NC and drive on the beach for a week every summer.

I have never been let down in snow, rain or sand with the KOs.

Any thoughts on other tires I should consider vs the KOs?

I had a set of the bfg at/s a few years ago, theyre a fantastic tire. For an all terrain, I don't really know if you can do much better. Not saying theyre better or worse than the toyo or general grabber, im sure theyre all comparable. But if you've used them for that long and have been happy with em, why fix what isnt broken?

Will be getting a set of the KOs for my F150 closer to winter time but had nothing but KOs on my Excursion prior to the F150.

Over 60K miles, ~10K towing (First set were D then got E for the same price on the second) and not one lick of trouble with them. they were awesome on that heavy truck in the snow.

I work at a tire shop (tireman) and install all sorts of tires everyday, I have had BOTH at2's and bfg's ats so has my assistant manager, we both live in michigan and both agree that the at2s are better than bfg's better snow performance and overall drive ability. Do as you please just inputting my .02

Im in Pittsburgh area and know what you mean. I drive 50 miles to work each way (to Ohio unfortunately) and know how bad the weather gets. I will be ordering the General Grabber AT2s by the end of the month.

Not a great picture…but 285/55r20 BFG KO's. I like them. A little heavy. I lost about 2-3mpg going from the stock Pirelli's to the BFG's.
