Default Which All Terrain Tire is best?

I have a 2013 4x4 Off Road Package F-150 on order and I am curious about the All Terrain tires it will have.

Who makes Fords All Terrain Tires?

Is it only Pirelli and Bridgestone?

And which one is the best in your opinion?

This may get ugly. LOL.

My pirellis lasted 1200 miles before I got pissed with them and took them off for Nittos. The bridgestones should be better, they can't possibly be any worse.

To me, on an FX4 at least it'd be nice to at least have a true AT like a BFG AT KO, Pro Comp AT, etc. The tires that come stock on these trucks are not useful off road at all...but most people buying trucks rarely leave the road so Ford needs to cater to the masses. I'll be lucky to get 45,000 out of the Goodyears on my truck, probably put on some Trail Grapplers next Fall so I can go where I need to during hunting season. Tread does make a huge difference when going off road, even if you are just doing a small upgrade with no lift/level/overly huge tires. I plan on keeping everything stock, just slightly larger more aggressive tires. When I upgraded on my 2000 F150 couldn't believe the difference.

Neither of them are very good tires IMO. I would at the very least try to sell you a set of BFG Rugged Terrains or Rugged Trails, the terrains being a little more off road oriented and the trails slightly more on-road friendly.

There are a lot better "All Terrains" out there then what our trucks come with stock, wether your looking for a true All Terrain or these more street driven "All Terrains".

I too found the Pirellis to be junk, especially in the winter. I got rid of them for a set of Cooper Discoverer A/T3s and I've been very happy with them.

The wrangler at/s are ok the rest aren't worth the rubber they used to make them. The reasons are not cuz most won't go off road it's EPA stuff with Mpgs. There are a lot of people on this forum who have differing opinions on what AT Tire they prefer. If I were you I would look at diff tires pick your top choices and then go to discount or tirerack websites and see how the reviews go from there on making your choice. Everyone has diff usages of their tires and what they deem important. Good luck. I put Falken rocky mountain AT/s on mine an so far have liked what I've seen. No snow or mud conditions yet and that will be my time to decide if the reviews I saw were spot on or not

The Michelin AT2s that came on my truck are pretty good tires. You barely here them at highway speed. They have great wet traction, ride well, handle deep sand very well, did very well in the moderate mud I have put then through, and were fairly good at self cleaning.

I like them better than the BFG AT KO s, and Cooper ATRs that I have had in the past.

They are actually made by BFG for Michelin.

So the Michelin AT2s give you the look and ride of a street tire, with real capabilities.

I just purchased a set of 285 65r18 bfg at ko and after trying them out at some local off road locations... I have to give them the thumbs up for traction.

I had good luck with BFGs in the past and with the Hankook Dynapros that are on my 4Runner now. Toyo just redesigned their AT tire (now called AT2) and it looks pretty good. Toyos usually balance well and seem very true (not egg shaped). I will probably try the toyos when the time comes.
