Default Alignment Problems.

Curious question: Has anybody had an issue with their front end not holding alignment or not actually aligning? I have had my front end aligned twice this year and it still won't line up. The second time I had it done a couple weeks ago it seemed to help some but this is crazy. I don't have to "wrestle" the steering wheel anymore, but as soon as I let go of the wheel the truck automatically pulls to the right. The truck is a 2010 XLT 4x4 Screw. Just curious if anybody else is having this problem or has had this problem.

Check air pressure in all tires but it may not be your alignment. Check your brakes as well, could be dragging slightly causing the pull.

Thanks man. The air pressure is good. Although the brakes have been doing some unique things lately. I'm planning on changing the brake pads soon anyway. They've been squeaking since I bought the truck 3 years ago.

Swap the 2 front tires side-to-side. If it stops pulling or pulls the other direction, you have a kinicity separation in one of your tires. If you can't get the tire shop to warranty the problem tire, then put it on the back and wear it out there.

Fairly common problem.

Is any of your front tires balding? Where the balding is will tell you if air pressure is low or high. If it is air pressure. If you have a level kit that could also be the problem.

Mine did this. The problem is that the factory specs for front alignment suck. Tell them to set the Toe to 0.4 and 0.4. Set the camber at 4. Caster is not adjustable on the stock set up. Make sure the steering wheel is strait on alignment. This will make it strait as an arrow.

The specs are -1 - +0.6 for toe. If the front left and right are not the same or close, it will pull to one side. Normally towards the grade.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I changed brake pads today and all the calipers a functioning properly as well as pad contact. Tire pressure is good to go. I'm gonna rotate the tires in the morning and see what that does. The front right and left are both wearing on the outer tread, maybe it's just simple and will only take a rotation.

could be your rack and pinion steering if your tires are wearing properly, valving weak on one side. could be just the crown in the road also.

Do you have LCA cams installed? I've seen a few F150s that would not retain the alignment without those cams. Post up the print out from the last alignment so we can see what your working with.

If your tires are wearing out on the outer edges, they are under-inflated.

*Do NOT* go by the pressures listed on he door jamb of your vehicle!!! They are almost always wrong.

Usually running the psi about 5psi less than the maximum of what the tire sidewall says is a good start.

Let us know how the tire swap works out...
