How it is going to direct airflow through a solid piece of plastic. Look at where is is mounted. The grill is where the air for the radiator and ac condenser comes from. The air dam is designed to displace the air and provide less drag. Thus increasing the fuel efficiency of the truck.
But is also be live its more to displace air under the drivetrain to have less drag.
Maybe it's twofold.

I got into bed at 10:00pm tonight with hopes of getting some rest because I am sure my 2 year old son will be up at the butt crack of dawn plus I wanted to sleep and wake quicker to see my new tires arrive at my doorstep so that I can install them with my new rims. Now that I have read over 12 pages and it is 10:54pm I would like to thank the OP. Thank you for stripping my night of 54 minutes of rest. I hope you are happy now kind sir!!
Lol I laughed at almost every post.

I've had mine off for probably 6 months just cause I didn't like the look, without it it makes it look alot better in my opinion. I've FELT NO performance change good or bad nor have my brakes overheated and I've not yet felt my front end lift or "hydroplane" even on the highway going 80-85 mph. I'm sure it's there for something but it hasn't affected anything on my truck...yet.
