I'm not the only person that has this smell I guess. Might have to make an appointment.

Me too. My dealership has me spoiled. I can describe the problem, and they get right on it. None of that "we'll let the tech drive it", or "we can't recreate the problem". But, I also think it has a lot to do with the relationship you have with the Service Dept. I don't go in screaming, and demanding a new truck when I take it in. I respect these folks are busy, and I'm not the only one that needs service.

OP, I haven't noticed this problem in my '13. But, I have owned a couple older F-150's that had the problem. I hope you get it solved. Actually I thank you for posting this thread. If it does happen I have something to look back on for help. Good luck.

If it's a leak in the system.., wouldn't the smell be apparent all the time? Cold, or warm?

However, some people are also saying it's a MOLD issue, which completely makes sense in this case. Not sure whether to mention the MOLD issue, or the LEAK issue to my dealer.
Yeah I can't conclude that winter is a non-issue. The truck was bought last May no smells during last summer no smells during the trucks first winter issue started about two weeks ago. I don't have a any seasonal comparisons to make yet but I will post how and what takes place at the dealership.

Personally I think it's a mold issue.

That stinks...

I've always turned off my A/C a minute or so prior to shutting down the truck and turned the fan speed on high. This has resulted in no bad odors or mold issues

You guys that take your trucks to the dealer, demand that they do a leak down test on ac system. The band aid/ manure smell I had was from the refridgerant leak and they found it by doing the test. Mine is 100% gone now that they replaced the evaporator and plenum

I have mine at the dealer right now. My wife actually took it in. They said to her it would be about an hour, as that's how long it takes to test the A/C. So.., we'll see shortly what they did / do.

Mine has had a funny smell for the past few months. The dealerships around here are horrible though. If you didn't buy the truck from them they don't want to fix it or you find one that will and they break more stuff than they fix.

You're quite welcome! And we ALL appreciate what you do & helping us!
I'm sure this info also helps you & Ford hear issues & legitimate complaints that mat need addressed. May help send out a TSB,...or even a recall????
But again we do thank you! (We pay a lot for our vehicles and it IS a big investment for us, next to a house, & we all want to protect our investment too....so again a big thanks to you!

Btw: I did call my dealer & talked directly with my service advisor. He checked with his service techs & he is saying that this is honestly the first that he & the service team ever heard of this.
I told him I will print out some conversation with this thread & another thread on here that possibly may have found the cure & will take it to him to see & read for himself. I will address him at that time how he wants to proceed with my truck.

My question to you, Crystal: I know that you want people to PM you with our info, name, number, dealer and VIN #..... Do you want me to PM you my info now? or seek my dealer & see what they can do first? Do we ask for your help first? or only as a last resort and problem solver?
I don't want to go over anyone's head and want to know what is the proper chain of command.
Again, Thanks!
