Default Air conditioning smells like Cow Manure

When using the air conditioning, the cabin smells like Cow Manure. I can smell it directly coming out of the vents. I haven't used the AC for a few months now.

In doing some research, some people seem to suggest it's MOLD in the evaporator? Some have suggested that the evaporator drain lines are clogged causing the water to stay in, and going bad. I'm just wondering if that's the case, as this is a 2013 F-150 with 5,000 MILES on it. How could the lines be clogged already?

Taking it to the dealer and dropping it off is a challenge, as my wife uses the truck for transporting our infant.

Anyone else experience this? Suggestions?

EDIT: I see some people over at another FORD TRUCK site have this problem as well, but the thread just ends. So, no resolution there.

Funny you say that. I noticed mine developed a musty smell the other day as well. Do these have a serviceable cabin filter? Not that my 8 month old truck should needs one by now, but anyone know for future reference?

I don't believe they do. At least my 2011 doesn't.

I've noticed this on both my 2011 and 2012 trucks. I don't find it lingers. Just when I remote start and get in, I do notice it.

Sounds like it's time to get your dealers involved, gang. Post your results after your visit; I'll check in on the thread to see when you guys have updates.

The problem with dealerships.., is the amount of burdon they place on you, the customer, to reproduce the issue. It doesn't smell like Manure 100% of the time. If i take it to the dealer, and it doesn't smell like Manure, it's over.

They should take the customers words more seriously. It smells like manure, so start investigating the possible fixes.

This is the problem every single time with my dealer, 90% of the problems I've faced I have to find the resolution myself.

Sounds like you guys need to find different dealerships. The one I use has excellent customer service and I enjoy dealing with them.

Have you guys tired fabreeze or some other type of spray? Maybe induce small amounts into the HVAC intake and see if it kills the smell.

Isn't that the truth. I'm going to experiment with different dealers into area next time I need to.
