This is getting ridiculous, people have had evaps replaced to correct a manufacturing problem only to have the smell come back. Why doesn't Ford put the evap boxes in the used in previous years where nobody had this smell issue. It's pretty sad when we pay thousands of dollars to drink a truck that smells like ****. I had the new deodorizer treatment done last year and I was able to get through the winter with no smell what so ever. The real test of this product will be this summer. I was pushing for a replacement of the evap box but after seeing this why go through the process of taking the dash out and hoping to hell that it doesn't make noise when they out it back in. Why doesn't Ford get there engineers that I'm sure get paid well and figure out wtf the problem in on this year of truck. And if what you guys are saying is correct that the company had to change something for environmental reasons then the 14 year trucks should be having this smell anytime then, or were we the lucky ones to be a guinea pig and test a new product only to find out it doesn't work and we're stuck with smelled **** for the remainder of the time we have the truck. I'm sure company exec's wouldn't stand for this why should we.

As far as people thinking its a refrigerant leak......if your truck is still cooling, and your compressor is not clicking on and off constantly, then its not a leak. These trucks do not hold much refrigerant so it would not take long for all of it to leak out. Once the pressure drops low enough, it will shut down the compressor altogether. NOW, if your compressor is kicking on and off within a matter of seconds, OR its not running at all (off on low pressure switch); Then you have a refrigerant issue. Refrigerant does not smell like cow ****.

Info is sent to you Brittany.
Some facts (dates & mileage) of the previous protocol including the EVAP changeout.
Just so you know, this is NOT an exaggerated problem smell...it is rather disgusting and smells absolutely horrible every time it's started up when it sits longer than a few hours.

Thanks

Their whole ac's have changed and not only has this become an issue, but poorly cooling units are equally a problem. Mine will not perform in the Ford spec range for the coil: 36-38 degrees.

in fact, they both could be related.

Hmm, now that I think about it. I wonder if the oil substance coming out of the vents was from the tests they were doing previous to replacing the core. Ex: Dye, Deodorizer, etc, etc.

It's starting to get warmer, and I'm starting to smell it again, however not as much. Only because we haven't had a real warm day yet.

I checked the drain tube for the A/C, and stuck a coat hanger up there. It seems dry and not clogged.

If your AC stops/ or is working poorly, take it back and tell them it has a refrigerant leak. Reason I say this is because refrigerant contains oil and if its blowing oil out the vents and AC is poor...its leaking

Instead of a coat hanger, use a piece of nylon string from a grass trimmer, works great.

That's a great idea. I've confirmed 100% there is NO blockage in the drain tube.
