Air conditioning smells like Cow Manure

There is not a leak in your sealed system, if there was your air conditioner would not get cold. The issue is the moisture building up on the evaporator coil as the unit is working. I'm not sure what is causing our odor problems, but at this point in life there is more important things to worry about. The smell goes away once the evaporator starts to sweat and condensate, it will smell for the first few minutes, no big deal.
I've only started to smell this issue for the last week. A VERY small freon leak, happening for 1 week won't drain the system. If it is a leak.., and left unfixed.., maybe the freon will be empty in a few months, depending of course how big the leak is.
As well.., if it was a moisture build-up issue, then why didn't I smell this last year when using the A/C? As well, why doesn't all A/C's from thie vehicle smell?
And...., I don't know how bad your smell is.., but mine is rancid. It fills the cab, and the smell doesn't dissipate in the cab for about 10 minutes. (It stops smelling out of the vents in about 30 seconds, but stays in the cab for 10 minutes).

See, this is part of the little known "farmer package"- it makes them feel right at home, wherever they may be!

This HAS to be well on its way to a TSB doesn't it? I mean this is a very specific and strange issue and look how many of us with nearly new vehicles jumped in immediately with the same issue.
It still seems strange to me. I purchased my truck in July and never had this issue even once. It all started this spring. As with everyone else it tends to go away by the time I am a few blocks from the house so I have largely ignored it. I wish I had seen this before I had it in the shop for routine service yesterday. I guess I will bring it up next time I take it in. I will definitely follow this thread.

Ive had this same smell since we picked the truck up in Dec.. so its not from my AC. I always thought it was because of the leather seats. Dammit the wife may have been right. Curiously watching

Just want to document this a little better for anyone else searching for this issue.
There's another decent thread going on here: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/strange-smell-252436/
I will keep updating this thread with my issue, but I think I'm going to leave it for a little. I'm hoping Ford looks into this, and puts out a TSB. Then we'll see whats involved.
Last thing I want is my crap dealer tearing my dash apart 3 times looking for something.

i had some mold smell in my wifes pilot. it wasnt the equipment issues like on this thread....but my ac smelled moldy.
learned a trick to fix...
turn on ac to high. let it blow
make sure you are bringing in outside air (not recirc)
with the ac running on high. go outside your truck and find the the air intake vents . they arethe grooves by the windshield wipers.
get some lysol and spray a lot of it on the outside ...repeat outside...vents so it gets sucked into the ac air intake
do this for a minute or so for each vent...some cars have one some have two outside vents.
the lysol gets sucked throughout the air system and kills th mold and germs. the more you spray the more death of mold.
the lysol does a pretty goid job of killing mold esp if you spray a LOT into the vent.
if the inside smell is too much lysol, open windows or use a diff fragerence lysol.
cheap trick i do to all my cars every 6 month or so to keep the ac fresh.

UPDATE - Truck is in the shop to get the dash pulled. I believe they ordered new EVAP and PLENUM. Also.. I showed the dealer OIL that is splattered on my inside front windsheild right above the defost vest. I also showed them oil residue on the interior below the side window vents. So we DEF have a leak. Here's hoping they replace the right components

The other thread on this board that is linked above is the same concern you guys are experiencing. The evaporators are leaking and causing the smell.
