UPDATE: Poo Poo smell is back. After the evap was deodarized, it smells again. Took about 2 days. Smells just like manure, or a farm.

Dealer said he will look if there are any TSB's. I mentioned a leak, and he said probably not. If there was a leak, you'd have no freon left. As well, he said PAG oil doesn't have a smell. So.., another case of dealerships not listening.

That's what happened with my truck as well.

The dealership told my they would deodorize the vents because they claimed there was nothing wrong with my truck. The service guy I was dealing with told me that it was my own body odor that was making the truck stink and it had nothing to do with the truck.

That comment made me mad so I called the general manager of the dealership I bought my truck at and explained the issues I was having and he asked me to bring the truck back and he looked into the smell in the AC into.

That's when they found the leak in the AC unit. To fix it they changed the whole AC system skiing with all of the vents in my truck.

Maybe you have to try taking your truck to a different dealership and say you have been reading about this online.

I had another issue with my truck and I told the mechanic what to look for because I had read about it online from you guys and he had no idea about this issue. I can't remember what that issue was.

Good luck

Back into the shop today. I sent service advisor the WO from another thread.., and a couple comments from here regarding the leak. We'll see what happens. I don't think he believes there's a leak.....

There could very well be no leak. The guy with a leak is probably not what most are experiencing I'm inclined to think there is water pooling due to something clogged and it's molding up or a bad design. So many reports of this farm smell I doubt every single one is a leak.

Mine goes in Friday I will report back with what the dealer says/does.

I noticed a few weeks ago that my under carpet on the DRIVERS side front is wet. But I thought it was because of the horrid winter we had, and my boots constantly being wet. As well, I thought clogged A/C lines always produce a passenger wet carpet, and not drivers.....

Well, I am glad to know that I am not the only one who smells this. I have to say, being in the refrigeration business and knowing the way evaporators sweat and condensate, cleaning and deodorizing them is not going to work, it is a temporary fix. I have to say, the manure smell doesn't bother me, it sort of counteracts the cigar odor in my truck, neither of those odor I find offensive, so I guess I will live with it.

There's part of me that is a bit worried what I'm ingesting.. I also have a 3 month old baby that rides in the truck 1-2 times a day, and am concerned what he's ingesting... If it is indeed mold, that can't be healthy to breath in everytime I use the air...

I'm usually not to concerned about ingesting things.., but this smell is like a chemically induced manure. Rancid

Back from the dealer. The dealer sent the truck down to their A/C expert (?), and the expert used a infra-red machine ( or dye) to try and find a leak. They didn't find a leak. But I'm wondering if they looked INSIDE the system for leaks, and not just outside. How would they check inside? He said they "dropped a box" and still didn't see anything. So, they deodorized it again and asked me to try it, and call him back if smell comes back. Which I'm assuming it will in 1 day.

He said without a TSB, there's not much he can do.

There is not a leak in your sealed system, if there was your air conditioner would not get cold. The issue is the moisture building up on the evaporator coil as the unit is working. I'm not sure what is causing our odor problems, but at this point in life there is more important things to worry about. The smell goes away once the evaporator starts to sweat and condensate, it will smell for the first few minutes, no big deal.

Thanks for posting this! I have been climbing under my truck looking for hay, literally. It somehow helps to know I am not the only one. 13 fx4.
