Default aftermarket warranties???

So im about 10k away from my truck going out of warranty. The dealer wants to sell me a $2200 warranty that will cover the truck bumper to bumper for an additional 60k or 5 years. is this a good deal or are there better deals to be had elsewhere??

I bought an extended warranty through mercury insurance. It bumped it up to 100k, it was a lot cheaper than the dealer warranty, I can take it pretty much anywhere for work, and they allowed me to tack it on to my monthly payment so I didn't have to pay it in one sum. I haven't had to use it yet, but im happy with it so far

Get AUL. A better deal, and a better warranty. You can take it anywhere you like, even the Ford dealer, and they'll pay for the claim. Besides abuse, they won't use any excuses at all. We've sold plenty of their warranties with zero complaints.

Stay far away from those aftermarket warranties, nothing but headaches trying to get a claim paid. Go with the Ford ESP and be done, I bought my Ford ESP from www.floodfordesp.com. Cost me $1,100 for 75m/100,000 mile/$50 deductible and is honored at all Ford dealers nationwide.

I use to work at a Ford dealer and it got so bad with those aftermarket warranties we stopped honoring them.

I had a company call me and try to sell me an extended warranty when mine was almost up. The sales pitch was... (salesman)do you know how much it is to replace one of the most expensive parts on you truck ( the computer)..(me) no I don't..(salesman) $3800.00...(me) oh wow that's a lot. How much is your warranty?...(salesman) Only 3,950.00....(Me) lol are you serious....No thank you. I'll just start a savings account for "truck emergencies".

I've heard a lot of them were bad, it becomes a common thing. It's the reason we researched into the companies. We chose to offer AUL due to the top rankings they have earned. It showed with the ones we've sold and how fast claims were payed. This wasn't a one time thing where they did great once and only once. Every warranty we have sold has always come through and instantly paid the claim as long as it was not abuse. It's obvious enough that no warranty will ever cover abuse though.

interesting about AUL, I'll have to think about that... but yes, I'd highly recommend the ford ESP.... but either negotiate the dealer down or get it through floor or levitown.... about half the cost. I got mine at close sadly, had I known that you can get it cheaper I would have negotiated or got it elsewhere. now that I know you CAN negotiate or simply get it cheaper, I'll be doing just that when I get my mustang. my ford service center is epic so I'll be staying ford, but if your dealer is crap the AUL might be worth some investigation.

I would stick with the Ford ESP if you really want an extended "warranty" although it's really more of an insurance policy than a warranty. Buy it for the peace of mind, not for the possible savings.

But regardless of what route you go, just make sure you understand the deductible and all excluded parts. The Ford ESP is NOT the same as a factory warranty and there are exclusions.

Also you should be able to negotiate a better price, especially with your truck still being under warranty.

Don't throw your money away and find a good mechanic outside of a dealership. The dealerships have way too much overhead and they have to get the money somewhere.

In Florida you cannot get an out of state extended warranty. You can get it from your credit union if they offer them otherwise Ford has you by the short hairs
