Default Aftermarket Coil packs?

Anyone know if the aftermarket coil packs like MSD or Accel are any good? They seem to be cheaper than the ones from ford. Best price I found for motor craft was 280$ for a set of 6 on my 2011 Ecoboost. My idle issue seems to come and go and its one of the last things I have not changed. Thought I had it fixed and then it returned..

I'm interested as well.

From what i've read in the past though, none of them are as reliable as the OEM ones.

EDIT: Anyone running the MSD 82576?

x2, everything I have read the oem ones are about the best you can get. You could always try just buying one coil pack and slowly swap out the other coils to see if only one of them is actually bad. I doubt all 6 of them are bad.

Most of the time you can just replace the boots and springs. Thats has fixed all of my misfire problems. Note: I have an 11th gen but I would imagine the boots and springs are a common problem on ANY ignition coil.

I have done that.. Someetimes my idle is perfect.. other time its horrible. Seems to be better when in gear vs when in park. There is a shudder coming off of idle and coming down to idle.. was thinking these coil packs might help.

Just a thought but if it is only happening when you are coming off of idle or down to idle have you checked motor mounts to make sure they are still good?

Ok, it wasn't mentioned in the original post so I thought I'd throw it out there. Most of the time the OEM coil packs don't go bad, as for recommendation on aftermarket COPs I only recommend OEM, again remember I'm speaking from experience with my 11th gen not a 12th gen also.

It does it in park also and you feel it through the truck but maybe two different issues. I will check tho.. 122k miles.. this was my buddies truck adn he babied it... said he probably floored it twice in its life.

Well, there you go! Should've treated it like a sports car. It'd be purring for you.

I tried cheap eBay coil packs on the 5.4 in my old '08 truck. I bought a set for the V10's since I figured I'd have some failures, and I did. I had one go about 2 months after installing them. After that one went a couple of years later. I had them installed until I sold the truck and don't regret my decision to go that route instead of spending $300 on a set of OEM ones.
