After many years of loyalty this 2013 platinum F-150 is probably going to be my last.

I own a 2013 ecoboost and after a few minutes the idle is very smooth at 500-600rpm, I can barely hear the engine running. If they start another ecoboost to compare is obvious that it is going to idle higher or maybe a little rough but that should be gone in minutes. I hope they can fix all your problems, if not maybe you can try an independent shop. I read that some of them accept the Ford extended warranty.
Good luck

When that happens, the 5.0 will become even more coveted and hallowed because guys will be willing to pay a premium for an engine with no direct injection, turbo failures, intercooler aquariums, fifty-mile-long timing chains, sooted up intake valves, 66% shorter plug intervals, horrendous fuel economy while towing, and TSB lists longer than the coast of California.

So boys, hang onto those 5.0 trucks. They're about to start holding excellent resale value.

As far as the "5 to 3" shift...never heard of that. I have heard of a 6R80 issue where the trans goes to 1st at full highway speed. But that was mostly confined to the '11 and '12 trucks, and is currently being fixed for free by dealerships with a new "lead frame connector" that's pretty easy to install. Basically it's not a hardware failure. This trans. is actually pretty durable.

As long as they aren't worried about oil consumption, random stalling and knocking ticking/ long block replacement.

Just left the dealer.

They are going to cover the mirror for the defrost under a "good faith coverage" from corporate. With a $50 deductible on top of my $100 deductible for the rest of the warranty repairs

I made them show me two different ecoboost tucks and I let them fully warm up and they both idled roughly. The service manager said it's just how they are.

i did just now read on another place on the net that the ecoboosts like new plugs every 30K miles. Can anyone confirm this?

I don't have it on me but i will post the TSB info later. Basically when the truck does a 5 to 3 downshift about 60% of the time is makes a loud squawk sound and looses power. It only does this in 4 auto. Not 4High or 2WD.

The TSB Says to add an additive to the tranny which is just a friction modifier.

They tried that and then when that didn't work they replaced he OD clutch packs. Now that that didn't work they have replaced the intermediate shaft and some other parts. We'll see if that works.

That's not etched in stone. Lots of people get 40-50k miles out of them. On the bright side they are the easiest to change spark plugs that I've changed on a Ford truck in the last 30 years.

Well I'm almost at 50K so I think I'll replace them. So glad to hear it's easy I was expecting to have to remove the entire intake.

Now I need to find some good plugs
