Advice please for first time truck buyer
Hi Guys!
I have decided to buy a truck for the first time, having only really had European SUVs in the past. I have put a deposit down on the following truck and am wondering if I have made the right choice or not.
It's a 2012 Platinum with 99,000 miles on the clock. It's coming from a Ford dealer with a service done as part of the deal.
I agreed to pay $26k.
This is the truck:

If it were a V8 yes. I wouldn't buy an Ecoboost, especially one with 100k miles. I learned a hard lesson with my own Eco. Look up all the threads about blown motors, stretched timing chains, failed throttle bodies, etc.

Looks like a nice truck! Seems like a good choice to me

There aren't very many pics to base a good decision on but normally that would be a decent price for a Platinum. One of the rear license plate lights is missing.

Looks like it has damage to the left rear. Tailgate jacked up and rear bumper jacked up. Also as pointed out - missing license plate light. I'd crawl under and inspect it to see what is going on an if there is any major damage or hacked wiring jobs.
I personally wouldn't spend $26k on a truck with 100k miles. That's the magic number things start to get worn out and need replacing. Not saying the truck is junk.. but 100k you can expect just those little odds and ends starting to come loose or fail as the miles start to rack up.. A nickel here. A dime there.
Are you buying this JUST because it's a pickup? Do you NEED it's pickup features?
I only ask because for example - I just sold my 2015 Explorer Limited (loaded) for $28k with 24k miles on it. It drove a lot better than the F150 does and is great mpg on the highway. Meaning you can get a lot more, newer & nicer without that "pickup" premium if you really don't need an open storage space.
End of the day tho - if you're happy with it and the price - go for it!

I wouldn`t for 26,000, I bought my 2012 f150 eco platinum 4x4 had 67,000 miles for 27,000 and it had nothing wrong with it and it was in excellent shape. that has bent rear bumper on the and hard to tell what else it wrong with it.

I will use the truck bed quite rarely I think, but it should come in useful often enough to justify not having another SUV.
Thanks for all the comments. I think I'll probably go for it.

I would ask for the vehicle history report to see if it has been in any past accidents before you sign anything. As others have said, the rear drivers side has had some sort of damage.
