Angry AdvanceTrac and Turn Signals

I have a 2013 FX4 F-150 eco boost 6.5 bed. I was pulling out of my garage turned the wheel all the way to the left (this had always made a loud clunk in the past and I assumed it was just hitting a stop) the first time it happened. The steering system made a weird hydraulic like noise and the wheel wouldn't turn. Then i noticed the turn signals wouldn't work unless I hold them down.

This continued for a couple months and then I took the truck in knowing something had to get fixed. The dealer said I need a whole new steering rack. I only have 59,000 miles and it all started at 56,000 miles. I thought buying a F150 was a quality product. Not so sure any more. My transmission had to be rebuilt in the first 4 months of owning the truck.

I picked up the truck and the power steering isn't working at all. I think they pulled the fuse for the power steering motor. Since I couldn't find another F150 repair specialist in Atlanta I guess it is back to the dealer. My warranty ended at 36K and now I am kicking myself for not negotiating a 100K warranty. This should be a recall by Ford since I am reading so many issues with this electronic steering.

Very common problem unfortunately. At any given time there seems to be a few discussion threads about it within the first couple of pages.

The title says advanctrac. But there was no mention of it in the OPs post. Just curious.

Once the hydraulic sound occurred the Advancetrac and Hill Descent warning came on and I had to clear them with the OK on the steering wheel. Each time the wheel was turned slightly faster than a gradual turn this would happen with the noise and the warnings.

Any reason Ford isn't addressing the issue? Hate for the media to get wind of this and start running with it. Could it be the reason F-150 wasn't truck of the year?

Hi ebroadwell,

I want to push this up the line to your regional customer service manager; they'll work with your dealership to get your steering issue addressed. To get the ball rolling, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.

Crystal thank you for reaching out. I sent you a personal message with the info you requested. By noon I hadn't heard anything and called in and spoke to Michael yesterday. He entered a case# xxx139 and was very helpful. It is now 10AM+ and I haven't received a call from the CS Regional Rep as promised yesterday.

I called in this morning and was told the regional manager has until EOB today to contact me.

I am still in disbelief the issue of not being able to steer my 2013 truck due to a steering rack failure has happened.

Hi ebroadwell,

Thanks for the update! I have your message, sent at 7:54 a.m. yesterday, however, my hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Eastern, and we have a two day turnaround for private messages. As the CSM's have many cases they're on, the agent was correct in letting you know they have until end of business. I'm looking into your case now. I recommend editing your post to remove your case number for your privacy. I see your CSM called you just now.

Meagan

I was contacted by the regional CSM at 11:30 and she is waiting for the dealership to call her back. Progress is being made and I hope to have this resolved today.
