Default Adding a trans dip stick

Was doing an oil change and saw this. Looks like where ford could have included a dip stick.

That IS the dipstick.It's a short one.

There is a dipstick in that, albeit a very short one, but a dipstick nonetheless.

Anyone know what's on the threaded end? Maybe it is a dipstick, just "mechanic friendly" (something to be checked only during a service check)? Kind of an odd shape just to be a plug. Looks like a long bolt to provide some area to grip it by.

There's a little plastic dipstick pressed into the end of that big lug nut looking thing. Its a PITA to get unscrewed due to available space.

that is dumb why didn't they just put a regular dip stick in there you can get from the motor bay?

Performance Automatic is now offering a dipstick to go with their deep transmission pan according to the web site. I've got one on order:
