Adding Tailgate Step
I added one of these and I think it is better than the OEM tailgate step. Don't need any hands to deploy! Weee! Easy as hell to install.

Me too. I agree with you and really like mine.
Wow, I like that Amp step better than the OEM tailgate step. It allows you to get into the bed with the tailgate up or down. Also, you don't need to deal with removing the old man pole and paying an additional $80. for the cover plate like the tailgate step.
Here's the parts you would need (I may have left a few out)
* AL3Z9940700A Tailgate Assembly (Flexible Step) - $831.67
* 9L3Z99402A48AA Rear Step Assembly (Less King Ranch) - $1,150.67
* 9L3Z99407G26A Tailgate Liner (Flexible Step) - $215.25
* 9L3Z99430B22A Tailgate Insert - $57.95
* 9L3Z9943300A Tailgate folding handle - $199.95
Also, you have to get it painted. And I'm sure I left a few parts out.

I used to lol @ the step, and handle until last week when I cleaned out the garage and made 37000 trips up it with cans and bottles to return. As far as I am concerned they are straight win. Some handle or step is unlikely to make me feel less manly. My ego is far too big for that.
I love that commercial. It should say
"Or you could get the silverado thats going to burn 1.5 quarts of oil every 1k miles because the rings stick and needs a new top-end. "
I use to work in a chevy service dept. It was crazy, silverados with 5.3L and 20k miles needed new pistons, rings, wristpins, gaskets, etc...
As far as the step goes , I like the one that is aftermarket and under the bumper better.

Does your truck not have a step bumper? I'd also like to know why someone would want to remove the grab handle (stripper pole, whatever) and buy a delete plate for it? Is it that much of a nuissance? I'm only 32 and I love the step and handle.
Here's a link of where I bought it online with free shipping. You might find cheaper somewhere else, but I couldn't. It's a pretty solid product - well made.

Thanks for this link. I just bought the AMP Research Bed Step. Excellent product and the installation was very easy. $159 dollars well spent.
