Question Adding NAV to 2013 F150 with 8" APIM Swap?

Yes yes, i know people have tried to cover this many times.

Looking through the forums here there seems to be lots of confusing info.

Basically I have the 8" mft without nav.

Looking at the Fusion and Edge guys with 2013 models they are just swapping out the APIM's from scrapped cars that have NAV as an option. They lookup the vin info, make sure its a close match and swap it. Then add the A5 sd card and boom.

Some basic requirements are stereo options and screen size. Which are all fine for me as i have the basic requirements already for all that.

Replacement APIM's on ebay are around $80-$150 for my truck. Have not found a match yet but I am looking

There are now guys who can reprogram the APIM's, likeyly they work at a dealer or are friends with someone who does, and they are just using OASIS to flash the apim's with incorrect vin's. But it seems to be working, i just can say for sure thats what they are doing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Navigation-Upgrade-For-All-Ford-Models-with-MFT-MyFord-Touch-SYNC-/201382907125?hash=item2ee35b4cf5&vxp=mtr
One guy on here even said that it might fry something if you plug in a non matching vin apim.

So is this safe to do or try? Does anyone recall someone here doing this and succeeding or failing?
