Adding Hill Descent Control - 2011 Lariat 4x4?
Been doing a lot of searching 'cause I'm curious. A lot of info on the '13-'14 trucks, not on the '11-'12's. I have an '11 Lariat Supercrew 4x4 with the 6.2. Was wondering if I could add HDC to it? I know that HDC was only available in the Raptor in '11-'12. But then was also standard in the FX4 in '13-'14, as well on Off Road package on some other trims. Tried going thru the Forescan thread but just too much to absorb for me. I have property in West Virginia, and having HDC would be nice for riding around out there.

Should be able to just add the switch, some folx that's all they did. There is a line change in Forscan if it don't work with just adding a switch, you'll have to go look at the spread sheet jdunk has, look for one of his posts with the signature and there you will find all the different codes.

Been doing a little more research on line. Dummy me.....completely forgot that the Raptor mounts the control and Aux. switches in the center console. Don't think I can use the switches that the '13-'14's have in the center stack above the stereo. My TC switch assembly also has the flasher switch and airbag light in it. If I were to just get the round HDC switch that's used in the raptor, drill a hole somewhere in the console/center stack to mount it, is there even a harness back there to plug into? I know, seems dumb...…

I'm assuming this isn't possible in the 11-12 trucks?

I still would like to do this. Just haven't done anymore research on this. Just involved with other things. I have issues with my back that are getting worse, so been trying to get relief. Being on disability has made me "financially challenged". I would think, if it were relatively simple to do, it would be discussed more? Or at least there would be more input on it. I'm not a computer person. So things like Forescan scare me.

If FORScan scares you, then you won't be making this mod. The spreadsheet referenced (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...yqbfQHB0rAnXNs) shows exactly where to make the change, 760-01-04, changing the second four digits to x4xx (i.e. leave everything alone except the 2nd digit which you change to a 4). I did this in my 2013, and the switch cost me $9.09 with tax in December 2016. So your total investment for the FORSCan interface tool and the switch would be under $50.
I found that my setting was already on. I simply added the switch, and it worked.
As to adding a button nowhere near the traction control button, I think that's unlikely, as the wiring is there. I can't tell you from 4+ years ago how much slack there was, but you're not going to the bottom of your console. To find out what's there, you would clearly need to open things up and look.
I agree that your console clearly has a different switch setup than mine does. I had one button that was to turn off traction control, the new button splits that into traction control and hill descent.
