Add trans cooler, what about fluid??

Bringing back this older thread with a couple of new questions.
I'm getting ready to add the trans aux cooler as my pickup didn't have one stock. I ve decided to use and have ordered and received the stock cooler, ($40/shipped, eBay).
My pickup does have the stock black plastic brackets and existing lines going to the radiator, which I will "splice" into the upper rad line to run through the cooler.
1. When I unhook the existing line from the upper side of the rad, will the fluid drain back into the trans once the vacuum is broken. I know the trans has a temp valve and was thinking this may inhibit flow from the lines back to the trans.
2. Anything else I need to be aware of before I start.
Thanks
