Default Add puddle lights to mirror harness

First time contributing, I wanted to share my puddle light wiring in case someone else out there wants to do it the same way. I hate splicing into my factory harnesses on my truck especially since it's under warranty. So instead of splicing into the violet wire on the truck side of the harness and creating a headache to remove my mirrors in the future I decided to add a pin to my mirror harness connector. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to find the right part to do this so I wanted to share. The part for the wire pin crimp is Mouser Part #:
571-2-1419158-5 Manufacturer Part #: 2-1419158-5. http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=2-1419158-5virtualkey57100000virtualkey571-2-1419158-5

My hardest part was actually finding the 20 gauge wire so make sure you have that on hand before your start because most stores will only have 18 gauge as the smallest unless you want to do speaker wire which I didn't because I wanted a more factory look. Once I'm don't the only way you would know the puddle lamps are not factory to the mirror would be to take it apart harness just looks like it was made for it.

I should be able to finish getting these wired up and installed tomorrow is my goal. While I have the mirror apart I and also adding the front facing turn signal mod.

Hope this helps someone.

I just used door bell wire on the mirror side, for my puddle lamps. It was plenty stiff, and matted perfectly to the door side connector. I was sure to use electrical tape to secure the new wire to the existing wire, then I hotglued it into the mirror side connector!

Held up great so for for, 2 yrs.

Ya I thought about that and some bell wire is 20 gauge but I didn't know how it would make that connection to the truck side I found the pin used by the factory connector. Waiting for the hardware store to open to get the right connector terminals to connect to the spade terminal of the puddle light then I'll be able to test my wiring. Still trying to figure out how to properly cut a hold for the turn signal strip. I want them to be the same for each side.

Thanks for the part number I found a better seller though. They offer free shipping I bought 10 pins for $1.63 Mouser wanted about the same but with $7.99 shipping

I added puddle lights and turn signals to my Tremor and found 2 mirror harnesses on ebay........pulled the mirror apart and installed the new harness/ signals/lights and worked out great.

I know you did this a year and a half ago, but I just got a '13 XLT with power heated signal mirrors, but no puddle lamps. I did receive lamps with my DB Motor Turn Signal kit (it has a front LED reflector replacement and smoked rear LED lamp for signals, plus LED puddle lamps).

I would like to add the wiring directly into the mirror harness the same way you did; no splicing of wires, and leaving all the wiring in the mirror-side connector. To that end, I have a set of wires ready to add to the connector to power the new LED puddle lamps, but need to know which pin position I need to add the pins to so I can get power and ground for the puddle lamps.

I believe pin 11 (on the mirror side connector) is power for the lamps, but is there a dedicated pin for ground for the puddle lamps? If so, which position in the connector needs to be populated for ground? Can you confirm pin 11 is indeed power?

Thanks in advance!

That sounds like a 13th gen truck. Or even 14th.
