I have the 1" Daystar and got right at 1 3/4" and has not really settled any less after about 6 months.

Just went out and measured, on front I am stock 37" from ground to bottom of fender flare axle on dead center. Rear is 39" from ground to bottom of fender flare axle dead center. I will be highly disappointed if I am over 38-1/2" up front when done. I am hoping for 38-1/2 or anything less!

I know nothing about the daystar, But the hell bent steel leveling kits are shorter than what you actually order because it twist and angles the strut farther... You get lift out of that. You will get all your lift out of it after an alignment.

In a suspension system that has front struts something like this could work, because the strut not only provides spring and damping, but also acts as the upper suspension arm. It's a cheap and weak way of doing independent suspension. Think economy car. As an example, a Strut suspension has a lower A-Arm, and a strut. It does not have an upper A-Arm, because components job is also done by the strut
Our trucks are not cheap or weak. The coilover does not locate the wheel. That's the job of the Upper and Lower Control Arms. You could put the suspension together completely without the spring/shock assembly and it would work locate the wheel like normal. In fact I did this on my lift to make sure I knew where to trim the plastic to prevent rubbing.
The sole reason they do the the rotating 180 degrees on install is for bolt clearance.
As to why the lift provided is greater than the thickness of the spacer? That's a simple matter of levers. The attached picture shows it pretty well. Pivot Point 1 is essentially stationary. the spacer lift lengthens the shock body, so Pivot Point 2 moves down by exactly the thickness of the spacer. This moves Pivot Point 3 down farther than the spacer. It has to, it's a lever.
The amount greater is dependent on the ratio of the Blue Line over the Green Line.

My buddy just sent me a picture of it done with 1". I am picking it up at lunch time and will measure distances again.
I just picked it up and measured, exactly 2" on front. I didn't want that much, hopefully it will sit down a little after driving it some.

I drove it 12 miles since I commented and it is down to 38-7/16 on the front. The front end settled 9/16" in that short of a drive. That means the 1" raised it 1-7/16". I measured it in the same parking spot I was in when I made the first measurement. I am sure the springs were sprung from having the tension released and just took a bit to settle. I am extremely happy with the height. If it sits down a little more I will be even happier. It will look a little better when I put the 60 series tires on it also.
