Access Tonneau covers. Goes above and beyond ! part 2
I know I just got thru praising Hellwig for helping out a friend, but this time, it was me that screwed up.
Almost a year ago now, I got a phone call with some bad family news. While I was talking for some reason subconsciously I sprayed WD-40 on the plastic latch that slides back and forth. To be honest, I don't really remember doing it, I was in such a fog during that phone call, I just know I stupidly did!
Needless to say, when I rolled the cover onto itself the WD dripped and marred the finish to a whitish 4 inch area on both sides of my only year old cover.
Nothing I could do, would cover up the now white spots. I felt like a complete idiot!
It also made me realize even with the top layer essentially removed the cover remained waterproof and resistant to everything that I tried to bring back the black color. From just a Sharpie to leather patch, nothing took.
So I had a new truck with a f-uped cover...wonderful!
I had corresponded thru email with Agri-Cover. Access's parent company about just replacing the vinyl and it was reasonable, but I just didn't have the free cash and there was too much going on at home to make it happen.
Fast forward a year later to this Tuesday, when out of the blue I get a call from Eddie from Agri-Cover inquiring about my tonneau (Access Lorado).
A year later they still hadn't forgotten about me...unbelievable!
Eddie offered to send a new cover for a fraction of it original cost.
It may as well have been free. All I have to do in exchange, is send the old one back in the same box with the postage already paid and FedEx will pick it up at my house. Doesn't get any easier than that.
You may love your choice of cover, but for me, for what he/they did for me.
I will always own an Access tonneau cover. Which by the way has performed flawlessly thru two New England winters and being rolled up and back no less than 3 times a day, 6 days a week for a little over two years.
That now makes 3 companies I've dealt with on here that have stood behind their product.
Agri-Cover, Hellwig and F-150 lifts. Whether it was user error or not, it didn't matter. They made it right and made me a lifetime customer!
Thank you folks at all 3 companies.

Good to hear they fixed you up!
I, too, had a good experience with them earlier this year. The ripcord for releasing the latches failed on my Access Lorado Tonneau. I filled out their online warranty card but never got a response. Eventually I got a hold of the Access rep here on the forum. He was quick to reply, looked into it, and quickly streamlined my case. Within a couple days I had an updated ripcord and latches at my door.

I had great customer service with them as well, and highly recommend them to everyone. The dealer had mine installed and the guy installed the "L" shaped weatherstripping backwards so mine always leaked. I contact Access and they sent out a new gasket free of charge. Great customer service. Will definitely go to them for any new covers.

Good to know Access is a standup company. I've got an Access Limited cover on my Ranger, since 2004! Zero problems to this day. Throw some 303 on it, and it still looks great. Yes, 13 Michigan winters!!
It's been so long ago, I don't remember filling out any warranty card, or if I did, where I would find a record.

That's what prompted me to write about it. I didn't send in a warranty card, or beg for any special treatment.
I was first contacted in one of the threads, when I mentioned doing something stupid and telling others not to make the same mistake.
It was a tough call then. The cover was practically new and still waterproof, so I couldn't justify spending anymore money on it. I sure as hell wasn't expecting them to send me another when I screwed it up.
Then a year later... out of the blue, I get a follow up call, with an insanely cheap offer for new vinyl?
I'm still in disbelief that I hadn't been forgotten. Especially with all the sales they make over a two year period.
Like I said; I wasn't asking for a deal. This is all them, going out of their way to take care of me.
One more thing, I bought the Lorado series. Which I believe is one of their most affordable covers. Even more reason to forget about the little guy sale.
And ya, except for the screw up, the cover still looks new.

Lorado is their 'best' low profile cover (or so they advertise it). Then it steps down to the Vanish model, then Tonnosport on the lower end.

I see now, the Limited has only a 5 year warranty. When I bought mine, it was a lifetime warranty.

Why don't they make any sort of hard cover?
