Just went to the hotel parking lot and looked at mine, a 2010 STX and a new style FX4. The front of the leaf springs have been shortened, and the driver side rear shock is now behind the axle and mounted towards the rear of the truck. Looks like axle windup control to me.

I realize my shudder is different, but similar to the OP description.
Ford has had problems with this issue, hence the pretend fixes and 3 TSBs.

If the cause is actually from the transmission output (torque converter or problem with trans pressure or control), then the soft springs and standard shock placement may not be the cause of the issue, but simply magnifiers.

I have rented dozens of half ton full size pickup trucks (GM, Ram, Toyota and Nissan) over the last few years, and only the F150's exhibit this annoying trait.
Wow. My service tech said a lot of differentials coming in for repair (including mine). Again, how can such violent vibration not transfer to bearings, etc??

I don't know if I should mention that my brother is a lawyer in the class-action lawsuit against Volkswagen right now. I wonder if Ford will be able to "excuse" this flaw indefinitely...

Hm. That sounds more like an engine burp than an axle issue. Spark plugs?

It's definitely rear end. The motor doesn't cut out it seems and doesn't do it when you sit still and hold the brakes etc

GM trucks have issues with the slip yoke as well. Some get a banging type noise on acceleration.

My son has a '14 xlt 5.0 4x4 and it shudders on takeoff from a stop. Very annoying problem. Done it since 29k miles now has 62k. We have removed drive shaft and regreased splines and that works for about 2weeks. Supposedly Ford has a special type of grease kit for this problem but they want to charge 100 bucks or more to do it. Their flaw needs to be repaired free especially when you have already had it done once.

Default 2011 f150 4x4 xlt 5.0 questions that need answers...

Ok so I just bought this truck a little over 3 months ago, and about a month ago I started noticing a slight slip/jerk/bump when I would accelerate from a complete stop. And it has gradually gotten a little worse, it also does it when I come to a complete stop, not everytime tho maybe half the time when I'm stopping and probably 75% of the time when I accelerate. And it does it no matter if I stomp it or take off real easy. From what I've read around online it's most likely the slip yolk? But when I turn in my driveway or go over any thing where the trucks suspension flexes it creaks/squeaks from the passenger rear leaf springs. Which it started the creaking a little less or right around the 1 month mark after I bought it. And then came the slip/bump from the rear end. Also not sure if this is connected but I've noticed that when I'm cruising down the road i can feel the back of the truck bouncing and it does it if I'm say at a drive thru in line and it's my turn to move forward and I just let off the gas and the truck will start creeping forward and you can really feel the bounce when I do that, it's like the truck is trying to hop forward instead of rolling smooth. Hopefully somebody on here can shed some light on these issues, because this is my first "new model" truck, I upgraded from a 97 xlt 4.2l. Keep in mind this truck has 192,000 miles on it as well. And I did get the extended bumper to bumper warranty when I bought the truck, but it is only good for 36,000 miles. So I've got approximately 30,000 or so to go. But my point is that it's my new truck and its driving me crazy so its gotta be fixed asap. Any and all advice and help will be greatly appreciated
oh and could the creaky leaf springs have anything to do with the rear end jerking from the take off?

slight slip/jerk/bump - lub' the slip yolk.

creaks/squeaks from ... rear leaf springs - lub' between the leaves and the shackle bushings and replace the plastic inserts (part # 9L3Z-5586-A) if necessary.

cruising down the road ... back of the truck bouncing - check and replace if necessary the shock absorbers.
