There also is less weight to get moving from a stop sign + I believe ths spring is shorter over all.

At ~$300 it's a cheaper option than the road master active suspension.... and to me, seemingly better than an add-a-leaf.

I had the small shudder @ 10 km/h at day one from the dealer, my fathers 2011 same thing. Just though it was normal with the tourque and all that bs. So purchased a big *** TT and the back end of the TT sagged the truck a bit. Researched the bags and pulled the trigger on them. Installed in less than 2 hours. 10 psi does not raise the rear very much very much if any at all. I keep 10 psi in the bags when not towing so that the air bags won't bottom out and blow a hole in the bag. The Firestone recommends 5psi minimum. First day with the bags I didn't notice the shudder gone because I was use to it by this time. After the third day it clued in that the shudder was gone, I tried everything to recreate the problem, hard start, slow star. The shudder was gone. I assume the extra pressure on the springs stops them from twisting (axle wrap). Installed a set of bags on my fathers truck...shudder gone...
For $300...it's definitely something to consider....
I attached a photo half way through the install

When the pinion moves up to the extreme shown on the video the u-joints create a shake in the drive shaft. If extreme like on the video I guarantee aluminum stuff is going to break. The sides of the aluminum block are not so good for these kinds of stress.

Default Driveline failures

Yes this is annoying. No I am not defending Ford - do not attack me for asking!
Has anyone actually had anything break due to this annying problem? I am curious. You would think U-jouints would be getting hammered.

My truck does not seem to have the problem as bad as some and I recently had the tech service bulletin done with the new gease and moving back the center bearing and I have not had a chance to see if there is a major improvemnt yet while towing -but I will soon.

installed a new upgrade driveshaft monday and by weds i had developed a slight shudder at take off and coming to a stop. thought it may be the slip yoke hanging up when sliding fore & aft. i also noticed some oil leaking from the front of shaft

returned to shop & pulled driveshaft. mechanic found residual oil that had not drained from rubber boot. mechanic said typically, they have drain holes and mine did not. he also polished & lubed the slip yoke up, then reinstalled it.

no more shutter & smooth as silk. all i can feel is the drop into first gear now....

i know this may not be the severe shudder some are talking about, but after reading these posts, it seems many are talking about two different things. hope this may help someone.

While in for an oil change, I mentioned the take-off shudder, mostly just because... Dealer informed there a TSB on some driveshafts for 2012 and older trucks. I haven't seen it mentioned before on this forum, but I did find a link here hosted by our own gdmjoe: http://www.gdmjoe.com/gothf150/drive...SB-13-3-13.pdf

Anyway, the entire new driveshaft & carrier bearing didn't fix the original shudder problem, but it did make a big difference reducing the severity in my truck that had apparently getting progressively worse over the last 2 years. So if your's is worse now than it was new - this might be something worth looking into.

I had totally forgotten about the shudder. Mine seems to have gone away. Haven't noticed it in months, even pulling my travel trailer

just an update on this: using this $700 aftermarket driveshaft turned into a total nightmare. after a few days the issue came back.. and with a vengeance! i began to cringe coming to a stop because the slip yoke would hang up so bad. i would practically try and feather the accelerator from a take off in an effort not to get any shudder or yoke slap.

in the end, i removed the 5" aluminum driveshaft. however, i had tossed my old OEM driveshaft in the dumpster because i thought i'd found my fix. I was forced to purchase a new driveshaft from Ford. This second OEM driveshaft is a million times smoother than my old one and I couldn't be happier.

I will once a year now, remove my driveshaft, get it greased up and then reinstalled by an outside shop. BTW- The prices of driveshafts from Ford have dropped significantly lately and even my installer was shocked.. was only around 300 bucks for a spanking new one-piece.

$300? That's pretty @#$% good. Good information to know. This was directly from Ford themselves?
