A/c comfort is subjective for the most part, but a good rule of thumb is if it's running all the time on high and not cooling you off during basic driving, there is a problem. Just like with heat, I like to regulate it knowing there is always more on tap when needed. If it's always maxed out, even in high heat an humidity, it's not adequate. My '14 is black and sat in the sun all morning. It's now 94 degrees out with a dew point of 70 (hot and humid!). After 5 min driving with the windows down it was completely cooled off. I was able to back the fan off to the 2nd setting, with much left on tap. This is what you want out of your a/c system. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not curious enough to burn that much fuel to find out, however, if your ever down my way I'd be happy to hook up and do an A/C performance test for you. Can even vacuum the system and recharge it if that's what it takes, no charge just bring 3 cans of R134a.

Yes it is, but not what some have in 2013 models.

Agreed. And I know it's a very frustrating problem.

Unfortunately the AC issue in my 13 will likely be a deal breaker for me and I doubt I'll hang onto this truck. I've driven three Nissans and Toyotas over the last 15 years and wanted to try a Ford. The mileage in my Ecoboost is less than impressive and the AC is the deal breaker. I know Ford won't miss me as a customer but at some point maybe they'll stand up and realize they need to fix some things.

UPDATE and a BUMP

Made an appointment for Tuesday for mine, yesterday the 2 electric fans started coming on, on a regular basis! So its parked until I can get there on Tuesday. All of the dash temp gauges were normal!

So just got back from the dealer, they made money and I drove away with a system still not working correctly. They said they leaked tested, found none. I asked if they checked the charge by evacuating and recharging, they said no, we only do that if we see a problem. I asked if they felt I came there just to have coffee and donuts and waste my morning?

I asked about the now almost all of the time running fans and was told this was normal. I asked about how the truck does not cool when warmer, they said leave it and we will try and duplicate but that they had over 200 cars in the AC shop!

I took my truck and told them I would take to another dealer that had the time and did not have 200 other car waiting for ac work!

Ford are you listening!

After I took mine to the dealer only to be told it works normal in their A/C garage I took it to a we'll known pro. He said although it is charged properly he said the system is undersized. His guess is Ford is just skimping and trying to improve MPGs.

Your right, couple that with the pre programmed cycle rates at around 46, and its a recipe for problems, as some of us are having.

At least at this point, I have it documented here and at the dealer: my concerns about the ac and also the now running frequently fans. Which by the way, never happened before.

Oh well, life goes on with Ford and I can assure them NOW, this is my last. Have to look at resale values to determine the immediate future.

Turns out that the guy that got nasty with me and not let me get a word in, was the service manager. Pretty poor people skills over there, in my opinion!
