I'd use pink fire rated insulation and wrap it in aluminum tape, that will make the biggest difference.

All home ac systems have insulated lines from the compressor to the condenser, strange that a $20k truck doesn't unless it was deigned like that for a reason.

im thinking of wrapping this one with alum tape. ive worked around corning so much to learn to avoid as much fiberglass as possible, although it works! my dad worked in insulation for about 10 years . i believe home ac lines have the rubber hvac insulation around the copper

The foam rubber type forms better to bends in the pipe and looks more like factory install. like you said they both probably do the same thing.

I have an apt tomorrow with ford to have them look at it.
Absolutely normal for the compressor to shut down on WOT. I don't know of any vehicles that do not have that feature.

It's been that way on all cars for decades.

May be a dumb question but is anyone worried about the foam insulation catching fire?

For $10 I'll give it a try but don't want to burn my truck down for a few degrees cooler. Lol

With the amount of other flammable plastic in there, I wouldn't be concerned.

From Armaflex spec sheet:

As tested by ASTM E 84 “Method of Test for Surface Burning Characteristics for Building Materials”, AP Armaflex in wall thickness up to and including 2 ̋ (50mm) has a flame-spread index of less than 25 and a smoke-developed index of less than 50.
