Default What is this piece broken from? Found in blower fan...

Hi all. The other day my blower fan started making some noise. Pulled the blower motor + fan out from under the glovebox and found a broken piece of plastic. I can only imagine broke from something inside the system.

I haven't noticed anything malfunctioning yet but I'd like to get it fixed if it's covered by warranty (while I still have it).

It looks like it may rotate, and has a rubber flange on it.

I appreciate any insights! Thanks!

It's probably off of your recirc/fresh air door. Dash has to be pulled to fix. Had mine done with 30k miles. Check to see if the volume of air changes when you turn recirc on and off.

It's definitely your recirculation door motor, so you can only have fresh air going forward unless you spend money to get it replaced. I had mine done under extended warranty around 40,000 mile mark. Hope they made them better but some guys have screwed or zip tied door shut to stay on recirc which is what I would do if I didn't have warranty.

Thanks, I think that's it. I don't notice any difference in the airflow now turning it on/off.

It's actually better to run on fresh air all the time unless you're behind a garbage truck, stuck in traffic, or passing a paper mill or landfill.
