I think we all agree there will be deposits in DI engines. However at this time Ford seems to have it under control in the Ecoboost. As with anything made there will be variations and tolerances. After 5 years on the market (appeared in the cars in summer 2009) there is little to evidence that these cause issues with the Ecoboost even as they age.
Lots of claims being thrown around about the deposits and MPG gains as well as HP gains. Yet no dyno graphs from an Ecoboost before and after. Would be very easy for some to get since they are "in the know".
Attached is 72k of MPG data from my 2010 Taurus SHO with the Ecoboost 3.5... Notice no MPG decrease.
I'm at 79k and would be happy to update if anyone cares. There was also a good discussion here:

Definitely hasn't gotten worse since new. Funny I'm averaging almost as good as your sho at 19 mpg lifetime. You must drive the crap out of it!

Funny that the NTSB saw enough of it to open an investigation into it.
Joe, wise words. And these few we want to keep them as they are, theirs have no issues (even though they have posted they did the drill mod, etc.) so this should not even be of concern for them.
I want to stress, this is only for those that have issues and are looking for a solution, or want to prevent issues down the road. This is not for the few outspoken ones that keep pointing out they have no issues.

Our readers should also be aware that their factory eco engine suffers greatly from misaligned air flow through the stock intake system.
For only $999.95, I can provide you with the patented new "Pan Dimensional Vortex Inducer"... guaranteed to make your eco run stronger, cleaner, and suffer fewer bug strikes on your windshield during summer months. No modifications needed!
Anecdotal evidence on a 1953 Henway shows that a properly-installed PDVI also helps a driver's teeth to remain whiter and their breath more pure.
Sales Associates are standing by. Call now! 900- 867-5309, and ask for Jennie.
But wait! There's more! We'll even include some old Ginsu knives that we got from a TV infomercial a few years back.

I know I'm not. Like I posted earlier. They also concluded that driver vehicle control wasn't impaired. Obviously they were never with someone pulling out to pass on a two lane road when their truck went into limp mode. What a joke.
