911

Does it looked like this where you live ? You think we got city police or fire and rescue that come out. We don't have a fire department that comes out. Not sure if the Volunteer fire dept that was the closest to us is even still there. You had better learn what to do where you live. Or you just might not make it by the time your 911 help gets there, it may be too late. Our Sherieff and people knows who to call that will respond the fastest to us. And who can find us the fastest.

While I live in a large city, I do travel to places very remote.
This would be the first responder we would call if in need on those trips.
I am grateful for the technologies we have today. Although as some have pointed out, they can be annoying I think overall it has helped save lives.
No matter where you are, sometime something can happen where you may need to call for help.

You know your not the only one that lives in the country right? The nearest police to me are 35-40 minutes away and volunteer fire department is 25-30 away by the time they arrive. Yeah it does kinda look like that.

Didn't get the answers I wanted. And only got limited answers here. And whey I do not agree with them. I'm bitching. Went to my truck and started digging in the manual. Found out I can go in the phone menu Go to 911 assist and turn it off. Then go to reminders and turn them off. Now 911 is OFF And Reminders is OFF And I DO NOT have the 911 reminder , reminding me that 911 is off. There is always another way if you look hard enough for it. Thanks anyway for all the help.
Just imagine what other info is in there!
Maybe you'd be better off in a '77 trans am?

Mighty expensive trip. And no champane to drink on the way in.
When they fly in from Houston that is 4 counties away.

Actually, it does. That could be a dozen or so back roads I travel on weekly basis. I will grant you that 911 is almost useless in rural areas. I'm 25 miles from the nearest grocery store and twice that from the nearest hospital. But with the lack of traffic those roads receive, I will take 911 over nothing if I'm unconscious in an overturned vehicle, on one of those roads. I thank god for the volunteers who go out on these rural 911 calls.

I guess you want me to get rid of my 99 F250 Powerstroke too.
Don't think so.

You do realize that we can shock people in their homes now, it's 2015 and the amount of prehospital care has advanced tremendously!
