Default So I took off the running boards

I think it makes the truck look taller. Share your thoughts. I attached a before and after picture

I've always liked the look better, definitely taller looking, but haven't done it because I like the functionality. I'm saving up for the AMP boards. Best of both worlds.

I like that color. And yes it looks much better without those old man boards. Lol.

Love that color!

I'd take my steps off too, but my wife is only 5' 3" and using the steps saves the wear on the seat bolsters. Actually the first reason is the only reason.

I'm of the opposite mindset. I prefer them on. I had mine off recently as I'd sold the stock ones and was awaiting replacements. I'm glad I got to mull it over for a couple of weeks as I ultimately decided I preferred them w/ boards aesthetically.

It definitely depends on the look you're going for and what (or who) you're using it for. I've got a wife and two small girls who use them getting in and out. My 6 year-old bailed out of the truck the first day I took them off. Luckily she landed on her dance bag and wasn't hurt.

I also like the protection they afford as I'm pretty OCD about the condition of my truck. That and my wife said it looked 'too trucky' without them, lol.

Default Steps when you want them...

....ground clearance when you don't....

Here are the NFAB Adjust Steps on my 2013 FX4.

Tubular bars are tucked in "high and tight" for ground clearance.

Front and rear steps mount have three mounting positions: Low, Medium and High. Steps are in the "High" position in the pictures.

There's also a bracket to mount a third step at the front edge of the bed.

NFAB Adjust Steps are right around $600....but may be found for less online.

Sold my stock FX4 step rails for $300......

When you mount those steps, can they be slid out of the way without unbolting them when you don't need them or are they hard mounted in the position you choose?

Default Zixxer10r: Steps are bolted....

....on....in one of three positions.

Four bolts hold them in place....and must be removed to slide to another position or take them off.

It would be cool.....if they could lock in each position....and then fold up under the truck out of the way.....
