The manual for my 2011 shows 12.1qt for the 3.7L engine, 13.1qt for 5.0, 6.2, and 3.5 EB.
  • 3.7L - 12.1qt (11.7L)
  • 5.0L - 13.1qt (12.4L)
  • 6.2L - 13.1qt (12.4L)

That's the total for entire system. Just a pan drop will lose 7 or 8 quarts.

I checked mine this morning (cold) and it covered both A and B marks. When I checked it yesterday (warm) it didn't reach the A mark and I drove around for maybe 5 minutes. The only thing I didn't do is cycle through each of the gears so I'm going to do that today. Definitely recommend wearing a glove as well. There's too much ambiguity when it comes to this fluid check, not ideal at all....

Default ramps or no ramps?

Did you all use ramps to have enough room to drop the tranny pan? I am about to change fluid and filter and think I can do it without ramps but there has to be some catch to it. If its up on ramps I'd have to roll it off to get it back level again for filling. Thought I'd ask.

2016 5L with 70k miles.

Checked the fluid level, first thing in the morning, and it really didn't show on the dipstick. About 70F. Drove the truck and checked it again at 180F and fluid showed on dipstick but just below cold marks. Can't say the truck is exactly level though.

BTW ... I have a grill glove to handle hot stuff but found my leather motorcycle glove to be perfect amount of protection and dexterous while checking fluid level with HOT CAT. The CAT is hot but there isn't much room either.

I've got the dorman pan but I'll decide on using it tomorrow. I just hate that its painted. Thought about putting it on ... then running the truck around .... then dumping fluid ... and putting factory pan back on after refill. Seems like lots of work but (1) i'd get more dirty fluid out (2) I'd have the OEM pan back. Dumb idea?

Edit ...

Just finished fluid and filter change. This is what I learned:

- I put level blocks under the front tires ... lifting 3 inches ... and I had plenty of room to work and thought it easier than ramps
- I used a plastic concrete mixing pan from home depot as my catch basin under the tranny ... very nice
- I used a second standard engine oil drain pan to clean up the tranny pan and magnets ... worked just fine
- tranny pan was crazy dirty but brake clean got it all looking new ... single can of brake klean is plenty
- reused OEM tranny pan ... even though I have the dorman ... after seeing how filty OEM pan was ... I'll drop the pan every time for future tranny services
- new gasket ... thats just me ... old looked fine
- torqued to 80 inch pounds ... per ford mototech
- I used a pump ... advertised as fitting quart size bottles ... NOT .... the Mercon LV ATF quart bottles have larger mouths .... I still used the pump I bought but it was a bit harder ... beware
- I made a hook from tubing and inserted it into plastic tubing from the above pump .... very easy to fab and very big help when filling
- get yourself like 5 quarts of ATF and crack the caps loose and slide them under the truck within reach ... easier than doing it under the truck
- put 5.5 quarts in tranny and still nothing came out of the dipstick fill port ... stopped anyway
- backed truck off the level blocks, ran it through the gears, and took it for a ride to get tranny up to temp
- put another quart in the tranny when I got back ... total was about 6.25 quarts to refill .... I filled to bottom of HOT zone. So, 6.5 quarts is probably near top of HOT zone.
- used a grill glove ... then motorcycle glove ... finished with bare hands doing final HOT fill check with dipstick. I don't think there is enough room for gloves and I felt more heat from tranny than CAT ... Bare Hands are fine

Hope this helps.
