never signed anything. I asked for a quote to fix the timing chain. Dropped it off Thursday. Got a call almost a week later saying they would need an extra two hours to look at the timing chain. I said okay and then I got another call the next day saying my cab was off the frame and that it would cost $6100 to fix and $1500 to put back without the repair.

all I wanted and asked for multiple times was a quote. The only money she would say was the diagnostic fee is $150. And they'd know more once they saw the timing chain. Didnt go any further in details then that. Now its sitting up there, I'm not paying especially to have it put back together without the repair

That's a dealership? If you are being straight in this thread, that is ludicrous what they've done. Start with Ford, they claim to prevent this kind of crap.

That is just sad that a franchise dealer would do that to someone....without a signed agreement...Sad.

Tell them you'll pay the $150 diagnostic fee plus 2 hours labor but anything over that and you're going to get a lawyer involved. You never agreed to more than that, and they had no reason to remove the cab.

I know it's common for the superduties but are there any engine maintenance procedures that include removing the cab on the F150's? Sounds like you got a diesel tech that just made an assumption

I have heard of mechanics lifting the cab on the f150, but it was their choice to make it easier to work on. It didn't cost the customer any more. I think the most I have read for timing chain was around $3k with most being right around the $2500 mark. Last parts price list was around $1200 that I saw with the updated tsb.

Did anyone else notice that they're charging him twice? 12.3hr for the chain and another 12.7 for the tensioner
