An exhaust shop should have the appropriate pipe you want, aluminized or stainless.

You shouldn't need to buy pipe yourself. I bought tips and muffler from summit as well, took them to my local shop and had them weld the pipe in.

Those of ya'll that had work done at a muffler shop, were you able to have the shop weld in the pipes and mufflers and still keep the system modular (still keep the flanges and be able to unbolt it).

I had him cut my resonator off as I didn't want it and had him weld the two pipes together. All the stock hangers are still in place and being used though.

They would have been more than capable of keeping the flange and welding the mating part to the pipe if that's the route I wanted to go. Just wasn't what I wanted.
Exhaust shops can pretty much do anything you want them to, just be specific before starting the job. If you want the flange so you can convert back to stock, just tell them that. They should be more then happy to do that for you.

Georgia: i think theres 2 or 3 bolts that attach res. to heads..i want to have that unbolted and they remove that and the rest all the way back to right after the muffler so that the 3" can still be utilized for my new 3" muffler..but ill still have the original muffler plus resonator..on my 06 all they did was cut out muffler and weld section pipe but this one has a bit more to it.
