2010 5.4 Sparkplug Change
Anyone know if the 2009-10 5.4 motors are any better when attempting to remove spark plugs? Getting near the recommended replacement time for mine and want to know what to expect.

I just had mine done at a dealer so I'll chime in
I've gotten a price from 3 Ford dealers for replacing the plugs, dealer number 3 (service advisor) was the only one to tell me that the plug breaking issue was fixed in 09 and I had nothing to worry about. The previous 2 service advisors I spoke to simply said that plugs on these motors can/do break and it's 1 hour labor per plug on top of the bill.
Either the first 2 dealers didn't know and assumed all 5.4's have the breaking plug issue or they think they can tell that to every 09-10 5.4 customers and get away with a higher bill every time... I'm hoping it's the former, I'd rather deal with a low information person then an outright liar.

They fixed the issue in 2008. I replaced the plugs on my '09 5.4L this spring and didn't have any issues. The hardest part was snaking the coils out on the back cylinders on the passengers side. The boots are long and there are lots of other bits above them.
Don't pay a dealer. An hour per plug is robbery. Spark plugs are about the easiest maintenance item on the truck to do yourself. Took less than an hour for all of them.
Hope this helps

Did my 2009 (5.4l, 70k miles) original plugs in March. There is no problem with your spark plugs. They are a normal 1 piece plug. The problem ones are the two piece ones from 2008 and earlier. took me just over an hour and I replaced them with iridium plugs. The originals weren't too bad after 70k.

Your fine. I had an 07, which was the last year of that problem.
