Question 6"-8" lift kits, do they require a bigger wheel size?

I've been looking at different suspension lift kits and a lot of them say things like, "require 20" wheels or higher" or something referring to a bigger wheel size to install. I'm running on 17" wheels with 315/70R17 tires. I wanna lift it up another 6-8" but all the kits say I need bigger wheels...is there a kit that I can get and install with my setup?

The reason that is is because of your tie rod ends sitting up so high most likely. With an 8" lift, 20" or 22" wheels and 39" tires would be badass.

Not really. The reason is because these kits use knuckles that are taller and smaller wheels would cause interference with the upper A-arm/ball-joint and the wheel. The lift lower the lower A-Arm and leave the upper in the factory mounting location.

So yes, make sure you know the minimum wheel size for the lift you are interested in running.

okay cool so then do you know any kits that could be used with my 17's? Looking at 6" lift now, not 8". If not then....I guess I'll stick with this ride height for a while. lol

How bout a 3" body lift as well as the 6"? And an add a leaf in the rear and and a leveling kit up front. Keep all your parameters of a 6 inch lift with a little boost and added capabality.

Check out the fox lift the raptor has. It has stock 17s if I'm not mistaken. It's gonna be pricey tho I can can almost guarantee it.

the BDS lift will let you run 18s...

You may have to click the 6" tab to see the recommended wheel sizes.

Most others I have seen require 20s...

so you're saying put a 6in on top of a 3in lift? You can do that? lol Could I run that with my 17's? lol I mean...that would be badass to lift it that much but I dunno if it would be worth it for me.

Put a 6" suspension lift. Procomp or fabtech. A quality one. And the ride will be waaaaay better than stock. And you could run your smaller rims. Then put a 3 inch body lift on your truck($200 bucks if you do it yourself). So you could save money instead of going with an 8" rize or whatever. so 9" of lift and up to 37" tires.

I may get hated on for this but imo body lifts are fugly. Our trucks already show a lot of frame IMO. I wouldnt do the body lift. 4 inch rancho lift is cool looking. you have to to hide the body lift and people can still tell. 6 inch lift is more than enough and i prefer the rancho 4 inch... THe rancho lift looks cool and gives plenty of lift but not too much... IMO
