As for the 6.2 .... yeah... different league.

Engine type 3.5L V6 EB 5.0L V8 6.2L V8
Horsepower 365 360 411
Torque 420 380 434
You need to compare the torque curves, rather than just the peak numbers. They're all strong motors, though. Ford did a great job.

I wasn't sure what comparison "run with it" meant so I went with hard numbers.

Yes, the EB pulls better at lower RPM.

Agreed, Ford did a great job. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their motor selections as long as you feel it meets your needs. Although I couldn't bring myself to even consider the 3.7... even though it has more HP than my old 4.6. LOL!

as much as I would like to agree with you, I cant. the numbers sound close, but on the dyno, its a whole different picture. the EB makes at least 300lb/ft from 1700 rpm all the way to 6k rpm.
the EB has one of the flattest turque curves of any non-diesel engine I have ever seen.
the 5.0 on the other hand doesnt hit 300lb/ft until 3500 and peaks @380 around 4800 then falls off SHARPLY from there.
I am not downing the 5.0 one bit, I like them so much I HAD to have one. but they are not a torque monster by any means

Thanks for all the replies guys!!! I drive a 08 5.4 now and I mean it works decent but could always use more power. I probably don't need the 6.2 but I always like more power. The 5.0 has a lot more oomph then my 5.4 so I know it will get the job done pulling my boat and hauling wood. But there's just something about having a 6.2. I have considered the ecoboost but after reading about the problems they can have and fords action regarding it, kind of makes me worry. And I realize not all the eb's have the problem but with my luck.... It's a hard decision and it's probably going to come down to how much price difference there will be between a '12 5.0 and a '13 6.2. I really like the numbers the 6.2 puts out and can imagine how it'd be with a tuner, cai and exhaust. Damn with all these fine motors it's a hard choice. And the 3.7 just isn't my cup of tea. Bit of napoleon syndrome going in here LOL

Spend the difference in cash between a 12 5.0 and a 13 6.2 and get yourself into a nice FX4 with Lux Package

My next f150 will have the 6.2. Whether that's in another fx4, or in a raptor. I don't use my truck to tow anything, I just want that motor. I also don't care about mpg's since I drive about 8000 miles a year.

I would go drive both and hopefully that will help you decide. And while you are there, you should be able to figure out how much more that '13 will cost. But keep in mind that the '13 will be a year newer when you go to get rid of it in a few years also.

Buy the 2012 with the 5.0L, and with what you saved over a 2013 6.2L, you can put on a TVS2300 blower when you get bored with the power.

I know nothing about blowers so I have a few questions:

What kind of additional power to you get from this? (Gains - 113hp/175tq)

How much are these (ball park)? $6,300+

What kind of long term effects does this have on the drive train? OEM warranty voided

Just curious.

EDIT: Never mind. Found it. HOLY CRAP!!

IMHO, the most trouble free engine of the bunch is going to be the 6.2. its just a simplistic workhorse engine. no new fangled gizmos or anything like that. just old school OHC mod motor modernized a bit.
