6.2 skip/miss/stumble
Bought my used 11 Lariat SCrew with the 6.2 back in Feb with 24,000 on it. Every once and a while I get a miss/stumble/skip, usully while crusing on the highway. No CEL or anything like that. Just feels like a quick stumble. Otherwise truck runs great. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Could be nothing. If anything, probably electronic side, maybe a spark plug...loose connection ect.

While I agree that it is a proven motor I still have some type of issue. I wouldn't call it a shudder because to me a shudder is something that happens more than once in succesion. This almost feels like something just ran lightly into the truck, like being bumped; one slight bang and gone.

Mine has done it a couple times. Didn't think much of it. With the fly by wire I just associated it with a throttle body shutter , throttle angle adjustment due to ac compressor anticipation or something like that. It will do it all the time on idle. Just a little miss once a minute it so. Makes it feel like its running a little rough. Never shot a code so I've been thinking its normal operating.

Weird... I experience the same thing with my 5.0 w/6,600 miles. I started a thread about it earlier this week, but it didn't draw much interest:
https://www.f150forum.com/f38/2011-5...-think-172336/ I also feel it at times when idling at a stop light. Totally random, can't repeat it.. At times it goes away for days, but then comes back. Does it once in the morning, never again the rest of the day and so on. Took our first highway trip with it (only owned it 2 months) over the weekend and noticed it a few times with the cruise set at 70ish. I took the truck to the dealer yesterday and they could find nothing wrong. They hooked up some scanner to take a deeper dive and look for any 'pending' miss fire codes. They say the computer will take note if it senses a cylinder miss fire, but it may not throw a code right away. It keeps things in memory for 15 key cycles (I think that's what they told me), but again, they found nothing. I guess it will have to get a lot worse before they'll find anything. Is it something I can live with, I guess... But ideally I don't think it should be happening. |
What?! A problem with a 6.2L?! Thought those things were bullet proof
Sarcasm aside, I agree check you plugs and connections and try to take note if does it more often in certain situations like only at highway speeds with the ac on. Never hurts to take it in and have it scanned by the dealer. My 5.0 gives me a little attitude like this every now and then, its very subtle but its there, but it happens almost exclusively at idle, on the freeway its smooth as glass. Almost every vehicle I've ever driven has done this especially ones with a drive by wire throttle body. |
I have had zero problems with mine. I'm sure it's something minor, but I won't try to play internet mechanic. Go get someone to look at it.

I don't really consider it a problem. So when it really breaks down or throws a code. I'll have mine looked at.
