6.2 in F150

*Please read the following post as an honest question, not an attempt at engine bashing *
Curious, why exactly would you want the 6.2 in an F150? I would think that if you really needed that much more towing ability than the EcoBoost offers, then you should just go with an F250. Plus you're not going to get much worse mpg with the 250 and you can probably get one for alot cheaper. I have zero experience towing, so Im just kinda curious.
Also, for the first 8 years I had a license I drove a 2003 F150 with the V6 that had just slightly more power than a Vespa. Compared to that my 5.0 might as well be a Ferrari speed-wise, so to me the 6.2 would just be massive overkill in that department.
So again, just kinda curious about the reasons why folks would want the 6.2 in a half ton. And as a heads up, I am one of those people who believes that "I want one because I want one and its my money" is a way more than adequate answer to the question!

I love my 5.0L...So far its been an awesome engine, tons of power and decent MPG without any problums.
But had Ford offered the 6.2L in Supercab FX4's back when I was truck shopping a little over a year ago...I might have succumb to temptation. I love V8 engines all around small or large...And as much as I love my 5.0L...There is something particularly alluring about a big 6.2L 411hp monster under the hood.

I have been thinking similarly. I want a loaded Lariat 6.5 foot bed 4X4 with the 6.2L. I am thinking of giving my Platnium to the wife as her Yukon is rapidly giving up the ghost. I want the max row package as well which I think yields a 3.73 rear end. I just can't help thinking I might as well get an F250 but it is just a taller truck, not much longer if longer at all.

Look again, taller, wider and longer. I set that my next truck would by an F250. After looking at what I do, the length, width, height, and turning radius made an F250 a huge challenge in most of the parking structures I have to go in and out of on a regular basis for my job. My F150 fits in the garages, has 2460lbs of payload and 11,200lbs of towing capability. I figured I was never going above those marks anyway, so the F150 it was.

The wife has given me permission to dump the 2011 5.0 and get a 6.2 in XLT trim. Unfortunately, I can't bring myself to do it. Financially, it just doesn't make any sense. Ford says I have to get the "chrome" package in order to get the 6.2L. While that isn't a deal breaker, it doesn't help my reasoning with logic. I think I've decided to wait another model year and see if I am still wanting the big V8.
Sticker on my spec'd XLT with 6.2L is $46.7k

The 6.2 is a nice motor and for the Harley edition it is nice (despite the AWD) but your skid-steer/trailer combo is nearing the maximum capacity of the 150 series in general.
Towing is generally figured as a mass pulling another mass of weight and with your trailer loaded you are just nearing the max towing capacity of the truck (10,300lbs as recommended by ford).
Would the 6.2 tow it better with less load? Yes but at what cost in extra maintenance? to the drive train(eventually you have to stop the 10K Lbs), and motor (6.2 is a dual spark plug setup, which if you put iridiums in your talking $$)
Basically if i was you I would look into a F250 or a F350 with the Scorpion 6.7 diesel or 6.2 if your wanting to stay on gas.
The super duty with its extra weight and diesel powerplant in my opinion is better suited for the OP's towing needs, I love my F150 but I would hate to haul 10k lbs regularly and maintain it myself lol
