My truck will see around. 16-17mpg on the highway with speeds varying between 60-75mph. On the interstate I will run 15.5-16.5 mpg at speeds of 80-85mph. Around town with a good amount of stop and go, I'll see 13.5-15mpg. A lot of that depends on idle times. That kills the mileage on the 6.2. I have 3.73's.

I love the torque and overall power. My wife's explorer has the Ecoboost. While it's fun to drive, especially at highway speeds when it sees a lot of boost, I still prefer the 6.2. Mileage between the two is very similar overall.

I found a 2012 Platinum with the 6.2, 6.5ft bed, 3.73 and max tow & max pay. The best thing I did to the truck was tune it with an MPT 93 Performance street tune. AFE intake, catch can, changed the (16!) spark plugs about 10k miles after I got it with 70k miles. No issues getting them out and they looked like maybe they were changed because all were in tolerance with not much carbon build up. Anyways, I have been extremely pleased with the 6.2 so far and yes the MPG aren't fantastic but it's something I can live with as a trade off for all other great things I got with this truck. You will be happy with the decision to get a 6.2 pending it doesn't have any issues to begin with. I also have the bump/clunk like most 6.5ft screws have but have yet to line the yoke/driveshaft. That is next on the list maintenance wise.
Mine is a unique one-off but I'd call yours with longest WB plus HD Payload: "SuperDuty Gasser - Light"...

Haha yeah it's pretty big (long) but I'll be as ready as I can be if I need it to work.

Both before I put on 275/65/20 Falken AT3/W's.

With the Falkens on it.

OP, make sure to take a pic when you get the truck and post it up!!

How did you manage to jinx me, dude?? It DOES have a Roush exhaust, and I can't stand it. I'm just going to remove the existing "muffler" (which appears to be a hollow can with 3" exits) and install a nice big 3" muffler. There's lots of room, and I'll probably just do it myself. I like the straight-out-the-back tips and will probably keep them.

I just bought the '13 in question with the 7700 GVWR package and it has 6 lug wheels.

^^^ FWIW, 7700 GVWR is not the HD Payload Pkg. Mine reads identical 7700# yet is likewise 6-lug since HD Payload wasn't optional in S-Cab wheelbase configuration. My payload with MaxTow (being relatively lighter S-Cab body) is 1742# combined.

BTW, congrats!!!

Thank you! I'm obviously not completely up to speed on the towing/payload packages. I have always put airbags on my trucks because I haul a fairly heavy toolbox and often pull a trailer with a couple hundred pounds on the ball. The airbags are nice for keeping the headlights where they belong. Lo and behold, this truck has airbags (couldn't tell if they're Firestone or Airlift, doesn't really matter) with on-board air and the control switch/pressure gauge mounted in the center console box. I didn't look at the yellow sticker so I don't know my number yet. This truck is SCAB/6.5' box.

^^^ Aha, another S-Cab 6.2...

Pretty uncommon, really, considering most higher optioned F150 are S-Crew and then with either 5.0 NA or 3.5 EB. Cost increase and model config restrictions limited 6.2 to just a few. IMO (since FoMoCo did then and continues to push EcoBoost technology), USA dealers would typically not order units for inventory with the more costly non-mainstream 6.2 requiring special factory order as I did to my own specs.
