2010 Camshaft phasers shot 5.4
My 2010 with 137K started running rough a couple of days ago while idling, and it was idling really low (500ish)
The code it gave was P0016.
I took it into Ford yesterday and they diagnosed it with bad Camshaft Phasers.
They can replace them for $1400 but aren't sure that I might not have bigger problems like a dead engine.
They said the oil pressure also seems to be a little low, I put in synthetic for the first time at the last oil change if that matters.
So I have a couple of questions.
1. What are the odds that it is something worse, I don't wanna put the $1400 in and then have a 10K bill to replace the engine shortly thereafter.
2. Should it be having this kind of problems with such low mileage?
Thanks

Be glad, I had to replace my phasers, chains and chain tensioners at 55,000. Should have done it at 49,500 but, didn't know it at the time. Everything I've read that Ford has redesigned the phasers and that OEM parts are to be used. Do NOT use aftermarket parts in this case. I've got about 20,000 miles and still quiet. If you do have this part done, make sure they pull the pan to check for pieces of the chain tensioners, especially if they broke. Also, while there, replace the oil pump with a Melling.
