The only silly thing is people who comment on posts they don't read. This poster said I must have gotten the economy tune, which would mean more MPG. I stated no I hadn't ordered one, and I certainly had not seen any more MPG. What was unstated but what I thought the average reader would understand was that I was not looking for MPG, and did not believe it was an economy tune they had given me by mistake because increased MPG was not evident. I didn't buy this truck for the ECO, I bought it for the boost, silly bear.

Didn't try to direct the entire statement at just you, but I know it looks that way. My bad.

So those of you running the 5* 87 performance tune on the 5.0, how much MPG did you lose just normal driving and not keeping your foot in the pedal? I'm not a very aggressive driver but when i need the power and when towing, i need the power and am willing to sacrifice some MPGs. However, just daily driving, do you all see a drop in MPGs?

I get 15-16 average (66lb tires and 3.55 gears). That is 70-75mph on highways. I also have a tendency to launch it so I can hear my exhaust. Never gets old.

I came close to pulling the trigger on new gears, but I have some other financial obligations this year and am nervous about dropping $2k right now. Especially since the shop can't even do it until a few months from now.

If I could do it again, I might have spent money on it first or just got an Ecoboost. The tune helps though compared to stock and I can manage with it a little longer. I don't know how anyone without one does though. The power loss is definitely there.

OP, for what it's worth, once you have an SCT tuner, you can get tunes from them all if you want. I'm hoping to try a couple unleashed and 5* tunes this summer. I like options.
Once I buy the tuner, and then decide to add tunes from one company or another---does the tuner need to be sent in to said company? Or can their custom tunes be emailed and I can update my tuner from my home computer? If I have to send it in, roughly how long does it take to get the tuner back?

Nah you dont have to send the tuner in. As long as the tunes work on the same hardware (5* and MPT use SCT) you can keep reusing it. Only if you jump to a company that uses a different type of hardware will you need to change hardware. The device is yours to keep, you bought it.

For tuners that work with SCT Devices, they will email you the tunes.

I've been running MPT tunes for two years now. I got the 87 Econ chill setting, the 87 performance street setting, and he the 93 performance street setting. I run the 87 tunes pretty much 99 percent of the time. I've had great luck with them. When I got them I was having issues with my truck burning a little oil which these trucks can be known for. I got the tunes and magically it ended. I got the new JLT intake last year and got my tunes revised for it and all the sudden the oil consumption is back. I emailed about it and was told it has nothing to do with the tuning. I also lost about 2l/100km. I lost quite a bit putting catless y pipes on but was surprised after my tunes were revised. I do a lot of towing I have a small enclosed trailer loaded for contracting so it's under load quite a bit. wish that being said. My truck runs really nice and I will say running the chill setting is certainly the way to go if daily driving. If you have a heavy foot and deep pockets the street is nice, I can walk my buddies tuned 6.7 cummins.
