Thanks for the input. Hopefully these responses can help people decide which way to go or even what to ask for when speaking with a tuner. Its a little funny that you and I have exactly opposite experiences. Just goes to show that it's not a perfect science and each truck will react differently to a tune.

I'm planning on running my 5* for a while to get a good feel for it..try different octanes, etc.. Then eventually try out the MPT as well. As you stated 5.0, a lot of people seem to have different thoughts and trucks react differently so it would be nice to get some time with both.

For anyone in this thread that's interested I will be at the dyno Wednesday morning to compare my mpt and 5 star 93 octane tunes, then at the track Friday night for some safe fun and more comparisons. As far as the butt dyno goes I'm guessing MPT has the slight edge but who knows.

Thanks to all you guys for the info. This is very valuable information and I'm looking forward to the apples to apples dyno. Seeing the curves will be nice, peak numbers are ok but curves tell so much more

I saw that you just messaged me. Yes as far as when I had this Dyno done the MPT tune out performed the 5 star tune by 6hp and 2 ft lb of tq and consistently by .02-.03 at the track.

Just reinstalled my 170* t-stat and mpt 93 race tune. I had to adjust it for my larger tires and it actually seems perfect from the first time over a year ago when I tried it. I actually think I like it better than the updated 93 prx. I guess I will have to get some miles and time on it to be sure. I also installed my CAI too while I was in there. really nice not to be stock again,

-Pull 4/green is my MPT tune with 93 octane in 4th gear
- Pull 5/red I s MPT in 3rd gear
- Pull 6/blue is 5star performance/race tune in 4th w/93
I believe this was with my current mods minus my 4.10 gears and 170* T-stat. So, JLT CAI, BBK 85 mm t/b, Boss manifold, Kooks long tubes.

Has anyone done an e85 tune? I'm going to get a tuner soon enough after I make up my mind. I'm leaning 5 star for the mileage aspect because I drive a lot but I'll try both.

I've used E85 with Omega tune. Moves like a raped ape when you tell it to.
