Lol I have lived here my whole life and been in handcuffs more then I like to admit... But that one was one of the dumbest accusations.
I don't 100% disagree with the emission testing. But they have taken it wayyyyyyyy too far.
Sort of like paying for a speeding citation. It doesn't reverse time and take that back, it goes to overpaid greedy government officials. Lets stick DEF in diesel trucks... Saving the earth one plastic container in a card board box at a time...
Same with the diesel particulate filters that have to be pulled out and replaced. Same with the DEF systems that malfunction and the entire tank and components have to be replaced at times.

I have the Five Star 87 performance/tow tune on my 2014 5.0L V8 and it failed on the three categories the original poster mentioned. I'm restoring it to stock and will drive to Dallas from Austin and back this weekend. Hope to pass the inspection on Monday (today is Wed). I'm not looking forward to the stock tune on it, but it will be interesting to compare it to the 5* tune. I'll report back if this did the trick and got me past the Travis County (TX) vehicle inspection.

Oklahoma doesn't have inspection at all!! They dont have registration or inspection on personal utility trailers. And the cops in Abilene will pull you over for not having a plate on your $1200 oklahoma 18' dovetail with a $55k brand new truck on it.. While being pulled with your $75k Company truck. If you try to tell them the law in Oklahoma, you'll be called a liar and a thief. Then be wearing handcuffs on the side of the road for a few minutes, while a TX DPS Officer tells them how dumb they are. Lol
I wasn't accused of stealing my brand new truck or my company truck. Just the $1200 trailer hahahaha.

I am in Travis County as well. If you don't want to invest in the Torque app and OBD2 reader, I can meet you somewhere central and scan it for you after your trip. I work near Arboretum area if that helps. Just PM me and I'll be happy to scan it real quick for you so you'll know if you will pass.

FYI...after restoring my stock tune from the 5 star 87 perf/tow, and doing a round trip from Austin to Dallas, I passed no problem. I switched right back to the Five Star tune when I got home though...stock is horrible!

Nothing about this sounds right at all, on my old Corvette which was tuned with HPtuners I never had an issue. That car had a blower, cam, no cats and managed to pass the plug in with out a single issue in Harris county. If you're simply tuning an other wise basically stock truck, I don't see how the tune can make you fail and furthermore how some tunes would pass and others would not. I am around 5.0 Mustangs a lot, most are dyno tuned locally, I don't recall anyone ever putting the stock tune in to pass inspection. A lot of those are forced induction cars as well, so it's not like it could be reflashed to stock even if you wanted. I mean you could, but you get the point.
