Default 5.5 vs. 6.5 bed on S-CREW

I've always driven an extended cab truck with a 6.5ft bed, so I'm used to driving a vehical of that size.

I am about to order a new s-crew and I'm debating whether to go 5.5 or 6.5 bed. The cost difference is almost nothing, I'm just wondering how much of a pain the extra foot will be for parking vs. how much would I would miss the space in the bed I'm used to. I don't use my truck for work or anything, but I will fill it up from time to time with brush, lumber, etc.

For those that have gone to a 5.5 bed, I'd be curious how much you miss that extra foot.

For those that have gone to the longer wheelbase, I'd also love to hear if it was much of an adjustment for parking and manuevering in tight areas.

I'm going to get the backup camera and rear sensors, so I'm hoping that will help with either option, but that doesn't change how big it is.

i created a thread about this not too long ago.

In short it seemed that it came down to garage size. Those that wanted it in the garage had to get the 5.5 bed. No way would I ever get the 5.5. I drove My SCREW 6.5 all the time and never have any issues. I back it in to most spaces..

No biggie really.. Always nice to have the extra space.

I suck at searching. I either got "too many results" or "no results"

The parking is a touch more of a pain. Specifically your truck will be too long for most spots. However, you will be able to put crap in your bed without the tail gate down.

I don't need the extra length and I think the shorter bed looks better.

I don't think the screw 6'5 bed looks that bad but I guess I'm used to mine. I always back the truck into spots and I try to park away from everyone. Just so I don't get jammed into a spot. It almost happened once. Also, if you're into camping and atv's the 6'5 bed can fit my quad with the tailgate closed and still put on a trailer. And you could put one of those tent beds on it. Tractor control thing bugs me more then anything....

If you ever want to put a tool box in it, you'll probably want the 6.5' bed. And though not popular, the 6.5' can accept a 5th wheel hitch. I have the longer bed, and my buddy has the 5.5'... I have driven both on a regular basis and don't think the extra foot matters much when parking. If the space won't fit the 6.5'... it won't fit the 5.5' either... I too can fit most of my smaller ATV's in the bigger bed more comfortably. Good luck! You'll love it either way.
