5.5 vs. 6.5 bed? pics-regrets?

It boggles my mind why a person that chooses a 5.5 bed is a dude and one who chooses a 6.5 bed is a MAN. I use my truck as a truck, if it can fit in the bed I haul it in my truck and if I need more room I use a trailer. My truck is not a YUPPIE truck it it at the appropriate time a WORK truck. "Mines bigger than yours" give me a break......

So VERY True!
I previously had a 2011 'Screw with a 6.5' bed and now own a 2013 'Screw with a 5.5' bed. I haul & tow and have no issues at all with the 5.5' bed.
If I have 8' sheets of plywood, my tailgate is down. If I need more room, I use my trailer - no problems here!

How's she goin' eh?
I think manufacturers market the 5.5' bed trucks towards younger people because it looks sportier. They also market them to the weekend warriors and weekend contractors. The guys who don't need a bed all the time.
Like I said, I looked at both bed lengths and was hoping to buy a 5.5' crew, it turned out I bought a 6.5' one. The one I bought was next to a white fx4 crew 6.5' and a black fx4 crew 5.5'. I looked mainly at price, the black one was a base model fx4. Mine was fully loaded and I didn't want white.
Like others have said, to each their own. I happened to use all 6.5' of my bed last night and I still had to ratchet strap the bed on an angle as the pieces of wood didn't allow me to close the tailgate properly.

The 5.5 bed is for folks who do t use a truck as a truck. Towing a small load doesn't require a truck hauling cargo without the need for a trailer is reason for a truck bed. Nothing used to Lisa me off more about my truck than trying to load something I to my old 5.5' bed and have it not fit with tailgate up. Or pack family stuff under roll
Up cover and have it not fit. 6.5'bed for the non posers. Lol

5 &1/2 bed works great for me, as I almost never haul anything. The 8 or so times I have, nearly everything fit perfectly in the bed with the tailgate up and tonneaue cover closed!
So far Ive hauled home mulch, rocking chair and foot rest, kids dresser & mirror, freezer, and a flat screen tv.
My neighbor has a 12ft trailer, I can barrow should I require the extra room!

I know this is an old thread, but i got the 5.5 and regretted it. The latest truck is a 6.5.
The rear sliding window is $600-800 to replace. Ive done it 3x now. 5.5 just isnt long enough for a full bodied gooseneck, even with a ball extender.

it's always funny to read stuff like that, thanks for the good laugh on Monday morning. I have had lumber, furniture, mattresses, 700-lb crates, random stuff, tools, etc in a short bed, no problem.
when you live / work in a city, the extra foot (or not) makes a difference and doesn't make the truck "useless" either. they are many posers in jacked-up SuperCrew SD's w/ long box too...

Man, nothing gets this board riled up more than box size. Even EcoBoost vs V8 arguements (I refuse to call them debates) can't rival it. People really can't appreciate adult opinions and how others spend their money at times.

^ to summarize, if you drive a EB with a short box, you're a poser wuss.
if you drive a long box with a V8, you're the manliest man alive and definitely "use your truck as a truck" to haul sh&t and do real man stuff!
