I don't understand why people post about the new 5.0 and have probably never driven one. I know from personal experience. I just bought a 2011 fx4 5.0 and the difference between mine and my father in laws 2010 platinum 5.4 is night and day. Not to mention the other features like the electric locking rear diff and the electric power steering or the LCD in th cluster(pretty useless but cool no the less). If your looking for a new truck go with the 2011 you'll be way happier.

You are right on the money, I just got my 2011 fx4 fully loaded 5.0L I love it It is like a spaceship, I traded in my 1986 f150 Ext.cab 5.0L auto (25 years), Retire your ride (Canada) $3300.00 toward the new one. I do not think new one will last 25 years but I will try.

I traded my 03 Avalanche w/140k mi for a 2010 Platinum fully loaded and love it. I'll buy a 20xx with either an EB or 5.0 after they are proven and the bugs are worked out. I've had problems buying first model years of anything new and I guess I'm not alone as consumer reports makes the same recommendation on waiting. My dealer said he'd sell me either but the new version would run about 4-6k more....

I would say if you want a race truck, go with the 5.0. If you want a truck to haul and tow, the 5.4 will do just fine. Actually it will probably not get much worse mileage than the 5.0. I get 18 to 19 at 80 mph and if I slow it down to 55 I can get 22. 2009 straight cab long bed 5.4 4x4 3:55 gears.

I've had no issues with my 5.4... I drove all the new engines when they came out. The 6.2, 5.0, the Eco... But at the end of the day. I got this truck used, saved a little money, and ive slowly been modding it and making it my own. I'm planning on tuning it, but I realize it's not a sports car and was never meant to be a sports car. If I wanted a sports car I would have kept my Mustang GT... Anyway, I vote for the 5.4, my father in law has a 2011 w/ the 5.0. And it's nice, but when I get back in mine, it just feels right. No other way to describe it. Guess I just love my truck that much. Haha
