Default 5.4 Triton Timing Chain. Is This Too Much Slack

Is this too much slack in the timing chain or is this normal? 5.4 Triton 2009 f150 Platinum.

Any info?suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure on the specs for the slack but I do know that for the tensioner to work the engine has to be running to build pressure to tension the chain.

Can you pull any slack in the middle of the top sprocket? If you can then the chain has stretched for sure.

Do you mean the chain on the phaser itself? I know the top side of the chain is tight enough that when I pulled on it there was zero play.

As diegoo.jayjay said the tensioners on these are fed oil pressure to maintain chain tension and you are seeing the slack on the tensioner side of the chain. Without oil pressure the tensioner has a back-up spring to hold tension on the chain until oil pressure builds.

I bet if you were to rotate the crankshaft you would see that slack be taken up.

Are you having any stretched chain problems or chain rattle?
