5.0L , Super Crew, 3.73 limited slip, 4WD HD Package owners
This truck may be an option for me. Can you owners tell me what type of mileage you get.
I drive a lot of country highways and back roads. One route is mainly country highways with 5 stop lights in small towns and mainly highways but going through 3 towns. I get about 16.5 mpg.
Now when I go the back roads in the country, there's a lot of near stops for 90 degree turns requiring a lot of acceleration to get back to speed. Many of these turns and stops. I get about 15 mpg driving there.
Both routes speeds are 55 - 65 mph.
Those mileage figures are with a 5.4L , 3.55 limited slip differential, Super Crew, 4WD, 5.5' bed truck.

With my truck (5.0/3.73/4x4/crew) I get maybe 1 mpg better than each of your examples and I do not drive for economy if that helps.
Sweet spot for my truck mileage-wise is 45-60 mph. Get it over 40mph quickly and let the 5.0 & 3.73 keep you in 6th gear. Gets you close to 20 mpg.

I had a 2010 5.4 (same rear end and 4x4) and i drove like a grandma with all the time in the world to get somewhere. I averaged out at 13.2 L/100
NOW i have the 5.0L 2012 same rear end and 4x4 and i drive it like i want to... sometimes like i stole it...lol and i get about 13.8 L/100. I absolutley like the 5.0L better!!! Much better performance with similar if not better millage...

Same set up, I get 14.5 around town and 14.4 lifetime with 9300 miles mostly hilly terrain around here! Highway mpg will shoot up good the longer highway trips I take.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it. Just to confirm, these are all trucks with the HD package (Heavy Duty Package: 8200 GVWR)? Heavier duty axles should raise the weight and give a bit lower mileage than the standard 7350 lbs payload package.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Here are a couple good threads discussing this exact model/build.

Thanks, but getting a HD Package is looking slim as it's rare with the 5.0L and dealer only found one and it's a different configuration than I need.
I have always been a bit fearful of the Ecoboost for towing after all the overheat issues and now that fear has been confirmed by the info in the Ecoboost trouble thread, where a new intercooler has been introduced for 2013 to obviously corrected the flaws in the original.
I just wished they offered a 5.4L still for the lower end torque and better cooling while towing but the 5.0L will do. The 6.2L is a gas hog and I commute 1500 miles/year and I'd go broke with that engine. In fact if I could afford to drive it, I'd just go for a 3/4 ton w/the 6.2L.
Thanks for the help guys but I may just be sticking with a Standard 7350 lbs GVWR truck.
Now I'm wondering if I should try to find a 6.5' bed. While it will make getting my camper into my driveway harder along with parking, I usually like having more than I need. The bad part is that it may make getting the camper in the driveway a lot harder and parking in the fitness club impossible as the truck would stick out into the driving lane. It also means that my bedrug bedliner and Extang Solid Fold cover wouldn't fit. Not worried about the cover as I hate it and would go to a soft snap on cover, I do like the bedrug and that's another $500.
