5.0L Short Block Replacement Time Lapse
I figured you F150 guys would like to see this time lapse I compiled on a recent 5.0L short block replacement on a 2012 F150. Man was it allot of work but when it was done it was as quiet as a mouse so it was all worth it! I enjoy doing trans and engine builds like this once in awhile, very satisfying when test driving afterwards and everything is back to new again for the customer.

Well the 5.0ls have plenty of noise issues none driveability though. The early ones had a knock noise from the "stretchy" belt" design, then they have water pumps that make a engine knock noise, they also have a few valvetrain problems nothing big, but the other common big problem is cylinder bore distortion where it is literally different sizes upon the bores length causing a slight rap/ knock noise this one was noticeable enough I would feel embarrassed to have my truck idling in the drive through etc. I was able to isolate the noise to the RH bank cylinder #3 and from reports cyl #3 and 4 are most common. I was able to make the noise diminish significantly by cancelling the cylinder at that point its short block time, fun fun.

Never seen or heard of any issues with the 6.2l also I have never seen the engine, it must not get ordered that often with fuel economy on the mind.
Nope cab removal not required for engine replacement even on the older models they come out just as easy as this new model.

Bottom line is to make sure you do nothing to void your warranty imo because you just might require it down the road. I'm going to take the Ford extended warranty on my 2012 Eco as some of these fixes are damn expensive.
Thanks again and that was a most informative video……..
