I or my friend is not running a tune with our JR kit. The JR kit doesn't move the MAF so it should need a tune. Just disconnect you battery when installing per the instructions.

I think I understand what you were trying to say, but to be sure. You don't have a tune and you didn't have any loss of low end power after adding the Jr Kit? It doesn't move the MAF so it shouldn't need a tune?
How much louder is the exhaust sounds with the kit?

the weird looking shapes molded to the stock tube are used to silence the sounds that would normally come from a intake. I believe this kit is as good or better than any other kit that deletes you air box and put a filter in open air under the hood where it is all warm air, the stock air box sucks from in the fender where air is cooler.

The stock air tube has sound chambers (all those growths you see hangin off of it!) that are designed to decrease intake sound under hard acceleration, the sound that most motor heads LIKE, that inrush when you stomp it. Those are eliminated by the CAI's and the Airaid tube does just that. The air box has nothing to do with the sound, unless you go with a kit that has the open filter design which will allow more intake sound to be heard. They are not increasing sound per say, they are just allowing you to hear what Ford masked out for passing EPA sound limits.
As to power, it is a little larger inside diameter than stock, so velocity is down a little I think since I can tell a bit of difference down low (I have many Mustangs and they are worked over, so I can feel this stuff), but it should give a little more on top above midrange. I don't think it is enough to amount to much....I just used it to install the Mustang engine cover and it is the cheapest solution.
And Z7What, you did exactly what I was thinking with the Ford oval, LOL!! I looked at it and said, "Hmmm, you know a Ford oval of the right size would go right there...." So it does look pretty cool, is yours a Ford factory emblem or did you source from somewhere else??

The air filter system on the new 5.0L motors is really good for stock. The Mustangs barely gain any power from a CAI. Funny everyone was all about the open element filters and now they are going back to a sealed enclosure like the OEM airbox.
